    Query on Gas Boiler Efficiency

Thank you Simon and especially you Tony. Lagging the pipework? I've just checked the pipework near the hot-water-cylinder and none of it is lagged, so will see into that one. Simon, from what I understand of your reply (many thanks) I am not referring to the CH but only to HW, (CH is off)...

D_Hailsham, My hot water cylinder is definitely well insulated, and has at least a 25mm or more foam jacket fixed to the cylinder. Not a loose jacket.

    Query on Gas Boiler Efficiency

I have a Vaillant wall-mounted 418 ECO TECH PLUS Boiler. Can anyone tell me whether it would use more or less gas if run on hot water only 24/7 with the max' temp' controlled by the thermostat on the hot water tank (set at 60C) , or whether less gas would be used if the programmer is set so that...

    Soundproofing a residential water pump

Thank you for all your replies. Much appreciated. However, the soundproofing box at http://www.soundservice.co.uk/enclosure_kits.html may not be appropriate as I am unsure as to whether the Stuart-Turner Negative 3.00 bar hot/cold pump is air or water cooled and if only air cooled could burn it...

Pump required to increase cold and hot water pressure

Excuse my ignorance but although you mention that both cold and hot water will be used very quickly, isn't the rate of flow dictated by the taps or shower controls/tap.? Many thanks.

    Gas Boiler Efficiency Costs

I have a 9 month old Vaillant ECO TEC Plus 418 with a hot water cylinder and CH System Q. Is it more economical to have the boiler going 24/7 with a thermostatically controlled temp' of 60c on the hot water cylinder OR just have set times for hot water of say 3 hours in the morning and 3 hours...

    Solution to one stone-cold Radiator

Many thanks everyone for your replies and suggestions. However, the problem seems to be solved for the present if not permanently. The plumber suggested replacing the return valve which he had removed on the midsection of the house, but this time much nearer to the boiler than previously on...

    Solution to one stone-cold Radiator

Premature solution and still have problems. After the removal of the non-return valve from the old gravity system, which used the 30 year old Potterton Netaheat MKII 16-22 (now replaced with Vaillant ECO TECH PLUS 418) the HW and CH will now work together, whereas previously they did not...

    Solution to one stone-cold Radiator

Problem solved........... The 30 year old open system with hot water cylinder/CH was reliant on gravity apparently, and where the new Vaillant boiler and system does not. The problem stemmed from a return valve left over from the old system and hidden under the stairs which has now been removed...

    Solution to one stone-cold Radiator

Suggestions and solutions please to this problem if possible........ Rad' in loft now working....sticking thermo'valve. However, when the CH & the HW are on at the same time, 4 of the upstairs rads either go cold or lukewarm even though the thermostat controlling the CH Temp' is fairly high...

    Solution to one stone-cold Radiator

Thanks. Will do as you suggested and balance the system, but first I will turn off some of the Rads' off to see if that solves the problem which will of course create another one with those turned off. No, the boiler is in its original position...........wall mounted behind a cupboard in the...

    Solution to one stone-cold Radiator

Thanks for the replies. It is an existing radiator that was working the day before, after the new boiler was fitted on the same day. However, the pipes leading into the rad' from both sides remain stone cold, so the hot water for this radiator is not even getting this far. The rad' is bled...

    Solution to one stone-cold Radiator

Just had a new boiler (Vaillant ECO TECH PLUS 418) and hot water cylinder. This heats both the hot water and central heating system. One of the rads remains cold upstairs in one of the two loft bedrooms. Been told that an "expansion vessel" should cure the problem as this should provide added...

But does anyone know of this product and if it will help in my original query, of protecting a 3 layered flat felt roof, fitted as a dorma, into and at the rear "normal" roof section of this terraced property. Many thanks again...
