Floating floor replacement in a downstairs toilet.

Richard- would using the mapei primer g be ok before using the adhesive on the concrete floor or is not needed with the flexi adhesive? It's a lot cheaper than the bal primer hence the question.

Damaged a meter neutral feed cable to CU

I'm not entirely stupid so I tested the neon screwdriver on the live of the c.u first and it works fine.... It would certainly be one Hell of an enema for the unfortunate soul! I just wish I could get the sparky who wired it that way to test it! Now I know that it's there and done so badly I...

Damaged a meter neutral feed cable to CU

Thanks. The property was built by Bryant in 1996 and according to Taylor-Wimpey ,who now own the company, they only keep records of the build for 6 years. The copper core is definitely intact and it is only the outer sheath that has been skimmed off by the plaster knife. (click on the pics...

Damaged a meter neutral feed cable to CU

I am currently renovating the downstairs cloakroom. After removing the sink the drylined wall was a mess so I cut back the loose plasterboard but in doing so I have nicked the neutral wire of the electrical supply from the meter box to the internal consumer unit. The meter box is externally...

Floating floor replacement in a downstairs toilet.

Richard thanks again and I was not criticising your advice by the piece you quoted! I'm sure you can appreciate that by getting more advice the better I can make an informed decision and hence why I said that to tictic. I apologise if it appears otherwise but that was not my intention and...

Floating floor replacement in a downstairs toilet.

It's a shame that I hadn't had your advice earlier, having bought and cut the boards already. I was going to go the screed route initially but was put off by the min 50mm requirement when I only have 56mm to make up and the tiles are 10mm thick ceramics... Wish that these house builders would do...

Floating floor replacement in a downstairs toilet.

Thanks, so you don't rate the idea of using the marmox board as a dpm and tiling on top as mentioned earlier in the thread?

Floating floor replacement in a downstairs toilet.

Are you saying that the dpm is usually under the blocks already? I'm guessing that there is, as the floor is bone dry.

Floating floor replacement in a downstairs toilet.

After taking up the rest of the floor it now appears that the floor is of bison beam construction with no screed over the top!! Aaargh! Is it still ok to do the above on this? Would you recommend an acrylic primer before going ahead and if so is there one you'd recommend?
