    Wet Cut v Dry Cut

It's better to cut with water though anyway? A trickle from a hosepipe, or a mate with a old washing-up liquid bottle squirting the blade. Doubt anybody could get done for dry cutting though.

    140mm blockwork corner. This right?

We use a concrete brick if its not on show, laid on end, 20mm in from each side. If it's pointed you'll have to cut pieces with a disc cutter..

Building an outbuilding - first timer

Sounds like an interesting project, a fair old size too! I'd be inclined to say go either all masonary or all timber, and not mix the two. I would go for footings, concrete slab and timber frame, plenty of insulation, flat roof, EPDM rubber covering, and some nice cladding (cedar?) on the...

    Padstones aren't square

They've not gone overboard with the tamping have they. There's more holes in them than a piece of Swiss cheese :-) You could pack a gap on one side with a metal shim, if you like..

    Using slabs as coping stones?

Yeah, go for it. There's millions of concrete blocks buried in permanently wet foundations, so a few drops running down them won't hurt.

    Lintel advice

If the SE said it will "undoubtedly work" and does the calcs to prove it, end of story, BC will accept it. Though why he didn't give a spec for the lintel in the first place, and left it for the builder to choose what to use. Who knows?...

Removing load bearing wall padstone problem

It seldom happens that the pad is sat on a full brick/block course. You need to put a split brick/block under it (the padstone)

What is the coverage of 1 ton of Type 1 MOT stone?

At 100mm thick you'd cover around 10m2 The fine dusty parts when wetted will start to solidify, but can be broken-up & reused. See further down for correct answer

    bolts running through dpc course

I wouldn't worry about it myself. You could put a blob of silicon sealant round the threaded bar if you wish.

    Beds in sheds!

A bit rough-n-ready maybe, but fair play to him, I think its brilliant. A lot better than living in some crappy flat for £600 a month. Eating your own home-grown spuds in a house you've built yourself, what could be better...

    Drylining quandary/paradox

Set your studs to suit your plasterboard. The offcut from your insulation can be used between the next studs, with another "make-up" piece to suit..

French Doors in Place of Window - Lintel Advice (RSJ?)

I would definitely use two 140x100mm concrete lintels. So much easier for plastering & rendering over, and no chance of the extermal one corroding...
