If you just need to replace the external brickwork. I would use a leaf lintel ( L-shaped) easily available at builders merchants.

I would take out the top course of brick on the inner leaf, then as you say, form a trough with DPM, and fill with concrete. I wouldn't worry about joining it to the existing membrane. I can't see one anyway?

A typical problem with steel lintels... Take the few course of brick above the opening down, replace the lintel & rebuild. Concrete lintels are Ok, but don't look the best? For the wall with 4m of wall above , I'd use an acrow prop & strongboy. For the 750mm lintel.. a 550 opening, or a tad...

Could you not sit a wallplate into the brick lean-to and fasten the other end to the brick corner. With, for instance, threaded bar in the mid-span fixed with resin..?

As long as there isn't a door joining the house to the garage there's no problem. You don't need the gravel, run the concrete all the way to the walls.
