Ovality is way below fail threshold so that is good. The tester himself said ''either cylinder or simple balance adjustment when changing the tyres''. How expensive would the bigger job be? :/

Just back from the test centre. Got some visual defect fails which I had expected anyway, such as wiper blade and rear tyre thread. I had decided to run it through before changing the tyres. Also got a visual defect fail on my rear view mirror which has some damage to the casing but it has no...

Test is tomorrow afternoon. I'll report back once it's done. I'd expect it to fail first go like they usually do! :) Lets hope it's in good shape though.

Anybody any ideas about those noises? Also, I'm thinking of doing an oil change using the extraction method. Any idea what type of extraction kit I should get?

Ok so I tried to record the noises from my car. Obviously, you will hear the indicator switch from time to time, and perhaps ramps on the road making the car bumpier. The noise that bothers me most is the last one @ 0:54 and again @ 1:37. It sounds like creaking or grinding. Not sure if the...

Doesn't to be rubbing the tyre. But it doesn't appear to be fixed in place either. Everything else seems solid and tightly in place behind both front wheels. The rattle is dull sounding and sometimes sounds like dull grinding, but it sounds like a metal loose rattle most of the time. I must try...

Ok, so Car test is on Friday and I've bee trying to suss out a few more ifs and buts, although at this stage, just running it though to see what comes back might be best. Anyhow.... Guys is this my brake hose? I've been trying to investigate the rattling noise coming from the front of the car...

Completely hypothetical breakdown costs of new build home?

That is another concern alright. But from what my initial diggings have told me, is that if the outside is rendered with the surroundings in mind, that it may just get permission. Also, the sites I would be looking at wouldn't be so visible. One example I've seen recently is behind an old house...

Completely hypothetical breakdown costs of new build home?

Not really no. But I did give the idea that the building was in place. But like my last post, let us assume that the home will be a modern modular type home. Basically 2 or 3 shipping containers, 1 X 40 foot and 1 or 2 X 20 foot. Some amazing modern designs can be made with these things. See...

Completely hypothetical breakdown costs of new build home?

This is a good angle to look into alright. It should help keep costs down. But what if I went one further. Container homes? Shipping containers are being used now also. So again, let us say a 40ft shipping container and 2 X 20 foot shipping containers were placed beside each other? It's need...

Completely hypothetical breakdown costs of new build home?

Don't be shy? Let's hear them? Anyway, I ay not need any more or even all of what was mentioned. And it is just hypothetical at the moment. :)

Completely hypothetical breakdown costs of new build home?

Just trying to get a ball park figure for possible project that I may look into down the line. So this is all by the by and ball park estimates are perfectly fine. So let us say that I bought a site on a mature housing estate in the Dublin area(or London/Glasgow/Manchester etc) Then, let...

    slow internet speed

No problem with the router. The company sent me a new one and it didn't solve the problem. A techie has since come out and fixed an error on the line.

Repairing hairline cracks in painted mdf?

Maybe you could test the water by sanding and painting over an inconspicuous area first?(if possible) A side of the mantlepiece for example?

Repairing hairline cracks in painted mdf?

Hi Tony, What type of paint did you use? Oil based or water based? If it is near an open fire or heating source, it might be best to use heat resistant paint. You could try filling the cracks if a basic sanding down doesn't work.

 It could be a few weeks to test, but I'll report back here once it's gone through! It'd be a shame to leave loose ends at this stage!!!

All the lights are working! :) The epic comes to an end! Let us hope there is no sequel!!!! :) I guess, I'll get and oil change and put some fuel additive in just before the test and we'll see what comes back. Normally, they'll find something to be done. But I reckon it'll be weeks before...

I did wrestle with the idea of keeping my mouth shut about the mess I made, but I felt you two guys deserved the truth for all your help, and I knew that it would also be quite amusing. :)

Hi Mursal. NCT is just out, so I am going to book it tomorrow. The harness I have, the actual clip that plugs into the back of the fog light, is clogged with the remains of the old leads. It's the clip from the picture linked on page 6. Is there any way to get the old wires out of the clip and...

Guys, you are going to LOVE this. John, you were correct. While it really, REALLY looks like this car has 2 reverse lights, it doesn't. The one on the right is the fog lamp. I never had the 2 on at the same time during my testing, mainly because I was satisfied that the fog lamp was...
