Car seems to be leaking oil.

Timing belt is good for another 30k!! It would be a shame to have to get all of that out if they don't need doing. It's just gonna cost me a fortune!! :( If it is that, then I'll try to just keep an eye on it and carry some oil in the car as normal. Maybe some sort of ''stop leak'' product...

Car seems to be leaking oil.

Well, it seems to be a drip anyway judging by the pics. It is on the driver side, closer to the front and close enough to the belt. If it is a front seal, is it an expensive fix or a cheap fix? :? :?:

Car seems to be leaking oil.

Thanks John. So what the mechanic says abut the CAT makes some sense but isn't absolutely needed yet? What about the quotes I got? €120 from the breakers fitted and all? The thing that concerns me is that the service warning still flashes when I turn my key. There is still(and always has been)...

Car seems to be leaking oil.

''The noise/rattle from the car is there because the bracket broke, which resulted in the flex and bracket on the Cat breaking. It will cost between €270 to €300 to replace. And the rest of the exhaust will need to be done soon'' - That is what the mechanic who looked at it thinks.

Car seems to be leaking oil.

So you think that there is a chance that the drip now could still be from the previous stuff? That would be great, but suppose I doubt it! I'll get the card under it again this evening, and try to get it to stay down. I took some pictures of the exhaust in case they show anything that might seem...

Car seems to be leaking oil.

About the CAT. I will check it this afternoon. I'll give it a shake and see if I can hear anything moving inside. The guy yesterday quoted between €270 and €300 Euros to fix it. I have a decent breakers close to me who said they'd do the same job all in for €120. So if I hear anything from it...

Car seems to be leaking oil.

I wish I could remember the exact wording, but he said the CAT was done. He said sometimes you can buy a cheap part to patch it up but he said in this case it was damaged ''on both sides''. He said the exhaust would probably go a little later down the line and that the front part of the exhaust...

Car seems to be leaking oil.

I was going to do the oil change myself this week, but I got a groupon city deal for car service for the same price, or probably cheaper than my service kit! And, it went in today. :) Anyway, they reckon that there ''could'' be an oil leak, but after what I told them, they think...

    Painting bathroom dark wood pannels

Be careful with the MDF doors. It might be ok, but you can get MDF cupboard paint also, and it does leave a great finish o cupboards. If it's closer to Matt finishing that you want then go for the 2 coats of Satinwood. If it's Matt you want on the walls, you could go with (a more expensive)...

    Painting bathroom dark wood pannels

You could try that. It may work and often does. But if it's a high gloss finish you want then Satin will not be enough.

    Painting bathroom dark wood pannels

Well, yes. Oil on the woodwork or water based satin or gloss. Obviously, the undercoat on the woodwork first, perhaps 2 coats. But Satin or gloss depending on preference of finish. The same goes for the wall. If you like Vinyl silk(very shiny and washable) then go for that as a finish coat. But...

    Painting bathroom dark wood pannels

Yes sand the wood between each coat and before undercoating since it has been treated before. Use emulsion on the walls, and since you are painting the woodwork the same colour, it doesn't matter if you hit the wood work when painting the walls, or vice versa, at least until the final coat...

    Temperature gauge and coolant

I think we can close this one out Mursal! Thanks. I took the plug out, cleaned it, replaced it, and temperature gauge worked when I went for a drive! I don't want to speak too soon, but it hasn't worked for weeks really. So I'm gonna say that it is fixed. No faults reported on the dash either...

    Temperature gauge and coolant

Any idea what other symptoms? I have read the info in the link you provided, thanks. I am not sure what to do now. I guess, I'll give the sensor plug a wiggle now and see if that helps. Can the plug be removed without losing coolant or causing any unstability? I might be able to clean the...

Car seems to be leaking oil.

Think I am making progress with the coolant temperature sensor. I have located it in the car, and now I just have to remove it and get a look at it. The other issues are now also a concern. I believe my battery is on the way out ad I don't have a code to reset my radio. If I remove my...

    Temperature gauge and coolant

I think I have located the coolant temperature sensor. In this youtube video, the temperature sensor is removed. I have the same sesnor in my car so I presume this is the one to remove. It seems to be colour coded, maybe greed coded? Is it ok to remove this sensor to find out exactly...

Would it be adobe after effects? This is quite common for animation and for special effects in TV and movies also.
