    Temperature gauge and coolant

Mine is a 1.4 petrol. I did a search for the sensors on ebay and have limited it down to one of 2. What I am unsure of at the minute is where the sensor is located in my car? When I find it, I can match it up to see which part I need to buy! :) In relation to the coolant, I drove to Halfords...

    Temperature gauge and coolant

No, I'm not losing coolant. When I first bought the car it was low on coolant and so I topped up. The it was fine. This time, I changed the thermostat, and I lost more than I expected during that process. I had a litre of coolant in the back of my car and so I used that to top back up, but I...

    Temperature gauge and coolant

The gauge used to move occasionally, but it became less and less likely to move and now, I don't remember the last time it moved. I suspect a temperature sensor now too. I changed the thermostat for nothing!! Well, at least there's a new one it it! :) I suppose the next thing is to change the...

    Temperature gauge and coolant

Just went out for a spin to the shops. Got the 3 beeps and red flashing light on the dash in the coolant/temp gauge position. It still didn't rise. SO I checked the coolant level in the reservoir. It is slightly below minimum. So perhaps I didn't top it up quite enough with the litre I put in...

    Temperature gauge and coolant

Hi Mursal. The temperature gauge on the dash rarely moves, even though the engine must run at the correct temperature. After going though all the possibilities at the time, I put it down to a lazy thermostat. I felt it must be opening slower than normal, and one symptom of that, apparently, is...

Car seems to be leaking oil.

Thermostat arrived today. Might have a go at that now in a few minutes. Shouldn't take more than 20 minutes, I reckon. Now, back to the oil. Don't know why but I decided to test again for leaks overnight. I left it in a clean spot on the road, and moved it this morning, around 15 hours later...

    Dining room paint help!

Any pictures? Is the ceiling plastered? I guess it must be if you're talking about emulsion? Perhaps an electric blue that could look like a summer sky? :D But if it's a wooden ceiling, consider woodstain? Perhaps it is both? White on the plaster and dark wood stain on any wooden beams...

    Painting UVPC windows ??

There is a primer called ESP(easy Surface Prep) that prepares almost any surface for painting. That should work well. Plus, I am sure that there are alternatives to this if you ask at your local decorators centre, or even in a store like B&Q...

Wallpaper has pulled paint off wall

In this case, I, personally, would take a decorators knife and scrape away anything that is coming away easily. Then I would paint the raw plaster with a thin mist coat. Then I would sand down anything that isn't smooth around the (previously) raw plaster. Next I would skim fill anything that...

    Painting Ceilings.

I presume you are referring to a ripple(stipple) style roller? There are roller sleeves that are dedicated to stipple FX? The less ripple you want, the shorter the pile you should buy. http://www.trade1st.co.uk/texturing-stipple-effect-roller-9-inch

    Gmail Problem

Is there an option to disable the "Send & Receive All" schedule? In outlook this is a problem that can be resolved this way. I am sure there must be an equivalent for IMAP?

    Wireless USB Adapter Dropping

Are you using up a download limit? Over usage per month can make connections lag? There is also a chance the usb wireless adapter is failing. Can you check it out, perhaps at a friends place?

Car seems to be leaking oil.

Avocet, there are some marks under where I park. They are not very heavy, but are recent. I have found no evidence of a leak, and no evidence of burning oil just yet. I think it was a combination of normal oil usage per mileage and the dipstick lifted. The oil change will happen in the next few...

Car seems to be leaking oil.

Cheers Mursal. Classic stuff. But it does help because I bought the thermostat off ebay and this video eliminates any doubt. I bought the right part thankfully!!!! It is all helpful, so thanks. There's a youtube video of a VW Golf thermostat change and this will be quite similar, I...

Car seems to be leaking oil.

You make it all look so easy!!!! I'm sure it will work out. If the housing is hard to remove is there something I can use to loosen the screws? A spray to loose them a little?

Car seems to be leaking oil.

I'm finally going to tackle that ''lazy thermostat'' issue too. I have ordered a new thermostat and should have it by monday or tuesday. I am wondering though, will I lose much coolant in the changeover? Like how many litres? And at what point in the process will the coolant start to pour...

    painting over leak

http://www.owatrol.com/index.php?langue=en&page=gamme-peinture Scroll down Owatral E-B and that might suit your situation best. But several of the Owatral products might work and they're good to know. B&Q probably do their own brand too.

What colour could I paint my lounge with Aubergine curtains!

I'd go with the white here also. I have aubergine curtains in my living room and I have ceiling and 3 walls painted white, one wall painted black(all Matt by the way) and the chimney plate wallpapered with a white paper with aubergine patterns. :D
