    12v fan on caravan

Thanks, I had tried Google but missed that one. It looks good.

    12v fan on caravan

I’d like to fit an extractor fan in the toilet of my caravan. I’d like to use a 12 volt fan so it will work off the caravan battery rather than only working when I have a mains supply. I can buy one from a specialist caravan shop for about £180 but this one at £45 looks good and is a lot...

    Relay block paving cost?

I agree £300 is too cheap. The £2800 was to reuse the existing blocks. He was a chancer. He said he would put a membrane under the blocks so no weeds would grow (they grow in the said between the blocks) I'd like to have an idea of a fair price.

    Relay block paving cost?

I am wondering if anyone has a good idea of what I should expect to pay to relay my driveway. It is about 40 square metres I laid it seven years ago. I put a good concrete edge round all sides and that is still in perfect condition so the levels are fine. I put down about 200mm of type one...

Electric voltage probe with indicator lights (split from other thread)

Since as often happens this has moved topic to test equipment. Where can I buy for a reasonable price, a test lead? (I'm not sure of the correct name) I used to have one, it was about 1m of flex with a probe on one end and two bright neons and a probe on the other end. Easy to use and it...

Is it worth changing this consumer unit?

I think the electrician was wrong to try to apply regs retrospectively. As I said I judged it to be a safe thing to do and it was only 10 days rent. The property was empty so a good time to upgrade. I agree if it was in my house I could not afford to upgrade every time the regs change. I...

Is it worth changing this consumer unit?

I am in Scotland and look after a couple of properties for a charity. These houses are let out by an agent. I received this as an email from the agent: Hi John, Our electrician has been out for the periodic inspection and it has been noted that the property still has an old fuse board which...

Is it worth changing this consumer unit?

I agree ericmark. My main reason for wanting the consumer unit changed was a total lack of a RCD, this included outside lights and sockets. I know I could have added one as a separate unit but that would have cut everything in the event of a fault. I reckoned it was far better to have each...

Is it worth changing this consumer unit?

I changed my consumer unit as the old one had rewirable fuses and no RCD. I decided the extra cost of having all RCBOs was well worth while as a fault on one circuit does not take out half the house.

    Electrical Question in 'Pub Quiz'

Because I would need to buy that, the 1.5 cost nothing as I had it in my cellar.

    Electrical Question in 'Pub Quiz'

Going back to the topic of cable colours I was doing some rewiring of a lighting circuit last week. I got a reel of 1.5 mm T&E out of my workshop and proceeded to install it. All neatly clipped and looking good. I'd simply cut the cable ready to make the connections. I was a surprised when I...

    Hedge Trimmer Cable Photos

I read a while ago that very few people die each year as a result of cutting a cable with a powered garden tool. Apparently many more die when they pick up the severed cable and touch it to see if it is live. You can't stop stupidity.

    Church Heating

Thanks Madrab, The whole building was renovated about 20 years ago. I have been told that the builder said that as he fitted TRVs to all radiators there was no need for any other thermostats. There are three that I know of but they are in the wrong places. I had the boiler serviced last week...

    Church Heating

I’ve been looking after the buildings at the church I attend for a few years. The buildings are well used so this lockdown is a chance to try to sort out some things. We have a gas fired boiler and four motorized valves. One is on what looks like 2-inch pipe and is for the church. There are...

    Tee-ing off a radial circuit

That must be interesting, especially if it is a kitchen ring. You can have either the toaster or the kettle on but not both, and what if you want a cup of tea while the washing machine is working? I have a caravan so a 16A supply is normal but very limiting.

    Tee-ing off a radial circuit

I wathed it because of this thread, well I watched part of it and gave up as he is an idiot. I was waiting to see him say he drove 60 miles to test his eysight before doing the job

    Tee-ing off a radial circuit

He said it is on a 16 Amp breaker so what difference does it make? He said something about using a waterproof socket inside the garage as that is what he had. I'd not employ him.
