I’d like to fit an extractor fan in the toilet of my caravan. I’d like to use a 12 volt fan so it will work off the caravan battery rather than only working when I have a mains supply. I can buy one from a specialist caravan shop for about £180 but this one at £45 looks good and is a lot cheaper. It is from Screwfix and is a Manrose XF100LVT/SC 10w bathroom extractor fan with timer white 12v (14750)

I’ve a couple of questions.

It is 12v fed from a transformer, will it run of 12v dc from a battery?

It is IP44 rated and if I mount it on the side of the caravan will it be OK in the rain while parked or being towed?

If this one is not good any suggestions for a good one?

I've just checked the spec sheet and the motor is 12 volts AC, unfortunately that means it won't run of a battery as a battery supplies DC voltage

No worries. I think the SELV spec means that although splash area bathroom fans are low voltage, they also have to be AC because AC is safer if you do come into contact with it.

That fan requires 12v ac, your battery is dc -so it will not work.

The 5" 12v dc fan, as used in desktop pc power supplies, will do what you want, if you can arrange the mounting somehow.
