    Replace Garden Bench slats

Gosh, I thought this thread was dead long ago.... :) The size of each slat on my benches is two and a half inches wide, three quarters of an inch thick and are 4' 8" long as I cut a couple of inches off each end, so was about 5' long originally, and there are 12 slats to each bench. It...

Two toilets on same soil pipe problem

Centre line of new WC is about 210mm from floor level and centre line of existing family bathroom WC is about 195mm, however as the new WC pipe drops down to the Tee piece the main soil pipe is lower than 210mm, but don't think there is very much of a fall if any towards downpipe. The...

Yes the new toilet is roughly where you have marked it, no didn't use the original connection as is just a 90 degree bend on end, a tee piece is fitted with sweep towards downpipe.

Two toilets on same soil pipe problem

Okay, have looked at the Marley Manifold layout and that is very similar to mine, the new WC in ensuite nearest to soil pipe is a dual flush Geberit concealed cistern, the family bathroom cistern is about 15 years old, same as the house. I think maybe there isn't enough fall on the pipe and...

Two toilets on same soil pipe problem

I had our ensuite refitted a few months ago which involved moving WC pan to be connected into same horizontal run soil pipe as family bathroom adjacent. The problem that has now appeared is that the water in the WC in the little used family bathroom gets discoloured until flushed. I...

    Weakened roof trusses

Right, will get some sheet ply already cut into 70mm wide strips and go with that. Just a quick question, what size and type of screws, something like No5 x 40mm countersunk goldscrews and any cheap PVA wood glue I guess?

    Weakened roof trusses

I think I may have a problem getting plywood the length of the whole truss, 3m+, wondered if I should just put ply each side of where screws are fitted in say 500mm lengths rather than one long piece? As any un-drilled timber should still be as strong as it was originally?

    Weakened roof trusses

Thanks for that big-all, It may be difficult to fit ply past the bottom screws as they are close to horizontal ceiling joist. Just wondering if it would be stronger to fit two extra braces as in this rough drawing... would need to fit them in between existing and fix with plates I guess...
