    Square D Consumer Unit

Thanks for this, so must be 30ma RCCB not 100ma. I was a qualified electrician many years ago and this would have been a simple straight forward thing for me to change, but regs have moved on a lot since then.. I don't have a RCD tester, but my thinking was a RCCB would be better than a...

Thanks for this, now I understand the ratings.

    Square D Consumer Unit

The board already has RCBO's fitted, it was just the switch I wanted to replace with an RCCB.

    Square D Consumer Unit

Okay guys, I hear what you are all saying, and will probably leave it as it is, but can anyone answer my original question regarding using a 30ma or 100ma RCCB?

    Square D Consumer Unit

Because the electrician wanted to replace the complete CU, and I can replace just the RCCB before he does any work.

    Square D Consumer Unit

Yes there is work going to be done to the bathroom lighting, it was mentioned earlier when I had some work done in the kitchen but as circuits were on the ring main CU, it wasn't necessary to change the lighting one.

    Square D Consumer Unit

I two old Square D Quickline consumer unit, one is fitted with a 100amp 30ma RCCB and controls all the 13amp power, cooker etc. The second one just for lighting only has a switch, no RCCB. I understand to comply with later regs this should have an RCCB, my question is I can buy an old RCCB...

    OsmaLink Soil Manifold Plugs

I want to remove an unused 40mm pipe from an Osmalink Soil Manifold, I believe it is a 50mm socket with a reducer and is just a push fit? Where can I get a 50mm plug to push into the manifold when pipe is removed and am I right in thinking I can just push the plug in? I may have to reroute...

    Programmable Thermostat?

Hmmm looks like I need BG to check it is set right and see what they can do to reduce the noise when boiler is in overrun. Thanks again for your help...

    Programmable Thermostat?

Yes it is a fixed 3 speed pump. So are you saying a slower pump speed is unlikely to reduce the noise but a larger size bypass valve and 22mm pipework would? I suppose I could easily try a slower pump speed after perhaps speaking to BG as it may then also require a larger valve if not...

    Programmable Thermostat?

Have just read the boiler is set to give a 24kw output and have just done quick calculation and boiler size may be a touch over but not by much and my calculations were a bit rough. Looking at the boiler manual the flow rate chart shows 21 L/m is for 30kw and I guess somewhere between 15 -20...

    Programmable Thermostat?

Yes there is a glass tube with numbers 3 - 12 and it is set on about 12. I assume the 22mm one will have numbers 8 - 30 and if it should be set to 21 this confirms it is too small.... I guess we have a 30kw boiler as it is a 5 bedroom house with an annex and is similar to what was...

    Programmable Thermostat?

Okay, yes I think they did balance the radiators after fitting boiler, although it was over a year ago. The Tacotherm is 15mm mounted vertically and I can see the screw head is set between A & B. which is about an 8 o clock position (if that makes sense) However have just read paperwork...

    Programmable Thermostat?

They fitted an inline Tacotherm bypass valve next to boiler which diverts water around about 3-4 metres of pipework including a Magnaclean. With regard to motorized valves, there are 3, one in airing cupboard for hot water, and two below boiler, one for a separate annex radiators and the...

    Programmable Thermostat?

Thanks for the reply D_Hailsham, I am sure you are right, my only other worry about the TPI is that British Gas fitted a Bypass valve next to the boiler only last week as we kept getting boiler faults and they diagnosed that when no heat or hot water called for it occasionally tripped as nowhere...

    Programmable Thermostat?

I have a British Gas 330+ boiler with a Honeywell ST9400C Programmer and a wireless Drayton digital thermostat. I was also thinking of changing the existing almost unreadable digital thermostat for the wireless Honeywell CM927 but am not quite sure if this is a good move considering the TPI...

    Table Top Problems

Thanks for the replies Deluks and Foxhole. Yes I did complain to the vendor and they have offered to replace the table, it was just that I was hoping that there might be a simple answer to removing the high gloss shiny bits, but it appears not, so have requested a replacement. Thanks again...

    Table Top Problems

I have just had delivered a new European Oak table and noticed some traces of what appeared to be glue on the veneered top, after cleaning it with White Spirit, the areas I removed the glue from, have a high gloss shine and I cannot seem to get rid of them. I have tried cleaning the remainder...

    BG 330+ Warranty

I agree £172.50 isn't a ransom but they want to charge £267.38 as I am not a new customer even though I have a new boiler......

    BG 330+ Warranty

Thanks for the info PRS1 & Mickyg, it seems a bit of a rip of, the quote I have had from BG for Homecare 200 is £267.38, yet when I get a quote on their website it is £172.50. Even if I opt for the Homecare Flexi 200 it is £150 with £50 excess per repair. Hmm maybe I will look elsewhere...
