    Hager WeatherProof CU

http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/HGVE110U.html Cheers for the info guys. It can be a CU and it can be many other things basically. If you want it to be a CU, you have to purchase the additional bits to make it a CU. Oh well, better look for a busbar. It appears a Hager busbar is...

    Hager WeatherProof CU

Can anyone tell me why the Hager weatherproof range of CU's never come with a busbar? I am about to wire a new shed and just noticed it was missing when inspecting the box. How come your insulated Hager range that you install in a house comes with a busbar and the neutral cable fitted to...

    Motor Wiring

Sorry for not getting back sooner but I ended up sticking a live on U1 and the neutral on W1 like ColJack stated above and its working fine. I agree a 3-phase motor and the use of an invertor would be a better option but it was out of my hands. I have added a few more photo's to my first...

    Motor Wiring

From memory but I will have to check, the wire at w2 goes to the capacitor and that's the only one from the terminals. I can't see what wires or how they are connected to the motor because it is sealed and you would have to open it all up which I won't be doing.

    Motor Wiring

I have a 2.2Kw Single phase motor to connect up and I thought it would be straight forward but the connections are confusing me. It is a two capacitor start/run motor but the terminals are marked u1,u2,v1,v2,w1,w2 etc. I asked a spark yesterday about the terminals but he couldn't help as...

    2-Core or 3-Core

Just to clear things up, at the meter, the tails go into a CU which has a main switch 'Hager 80A 30mA RCCB. Also there is a 40A MCB which the run of 16mm² is fed from to the garage. The CU in this garage has a normal 100A switch. Going to price some cable this evening or tomorrow at the...

    2-Core or 3-Core

The supply to the garage is around 40m max due to the route and it is seperate from the house hence the RCD. Two feeds from the meter, one for house and one for garage.

    2-Core or 3-Core

Single Phase TT System Supply to garage is 16mm² (40A MCB protected by a 30mA RCD) and I was planning to install 25mm² to be safe. Load should be no more than 4000w at one time.

    2-Core or 3-Core

I have a trench dug from my garage to another large building around 80m away. I am going to get some swa to lay in it before covering it up. I am just wondering would I be best to buy 2-core, earth the steel wire armour at Point A (garage) but not use this earth at the new shed Point B. Here...

    Voltage Problem

Our DNO is our Electricity Supplier. No signs of burning etc but he is not taking a shower while boiling the kettle at the same time if you know what I mean.

    Voltage Problem

My reply was to ban-all-sheds since his was the last post. I took the reading at the CU in the house. At the end of the day, the supplier should be giving the customer a supply of 230v if they install a supply fuse of 100a should they not and also, one doesn't expect the voltage to drop so...

    Voltage Problem

When items are turned on, the voltage keeps dropping i.e. 225, 220, 210, 200. You really notice the voltage drop when items with large wattage are turned on.

    Voltage Problem

In the garage, he has a reading of 229/230v and if I disconnect the supply to the garage, the voltage is the same. If things are turned on in the house, the voltage drops to. The supplier took a reading of the voltage and said he is reading 230v so it's not their fault and insisted on a...

    SWA Cable Size Query

I couldn't get at the motor today to take all the details down but its a motor to drive an auger of short length. These motors are low rpm so once they start, there is no speed build up like a fan if you know what I mean. The motor comes with a 15A Start, Stop/Reset control box.

    SWA Cable Size Query

Marked on the motors panel when I last checked it was 14.4A. I will get a better look at it tomorrow to be sure. Basically if it is 14.4A, I need to pick a cable to handle that amp?

    SWA Cable Size Query

I have a motor which will run for 10-15mins each day and I need to connect power to it. The motor is 230v / 2100w and the length of run is around 75m from CU to motor but I will get around 85m or so to be sure. The cable size calculator at TLC states 4mm swa. I know its only a guide but do...
