Laying laminate around bottom of stairs

Hi all. I am laying laminate flooring in my hallway. The problem is that the bottom step of the stairs is curved at the corner. In the instructions it says that you should leave a 10mm gap between the edge of the floor and the walls to prevent the flooring from warping. Would it be ok...

    Renault megane starting problem

Hi, I asked my mechanic what it was that he changed when I took the car in. He said it was the temperature sensor. Would this be the same thing as the coolant temperature sensor, or something different? Thanks alot.

    Renault megane starting problem

Thanks for the replies. Yes the engine does turn over. Is this similar to the top dead center sensor? I found this information on another forum. My car seems to have symptoms 1 and 4. Do you think that this could be the cause? Thanks.

Cracks appearing in paint. Is plaster sealer the answer?

I'm not too sure. I think I only noticed them after the 3rd coat, but maybe they didn't have time to develop after the other coats (before the next coat went on.)

Cracks appearing in paint. Is plaster sealer the answer?

Hi all, I stripped the wallpaper on the walls that I am decorating and used sugar soap to wash them down. I then filled holes with polyfill and used Polycell smoothover on the rough areas. I then sanded it all down. Then next stage was to add a coat of polycell base coat for walls. I...

    Brake light is not working.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I don't have an owners manual. Are there different bulbs for different makes of car, or is a standard bulb likely to fit? Does anyone know of a good website where you can buy things such as car brake light bulbs? Thanks.

    Fitting new skirtings

Hi all, I have cut my new MDF skirtings to the right length, but the problem is that the wall is not completely even, so there are gaps behind the skirting boards. When this is the case, is it better to screw the skirtings on to the walls rather than using that no nail stuff that is...

    Building my own fireplace

Hi all, I was in B & Q the other day looking at the fireplaces and surrounds. There was one which was basically a slab of marble(or something that looked like it) for the back panel, framed by 3 pieces of thick wood. The wood was quite roughly finished creating quite a rustic effect...

    Replacing bathroom suite

Hi, well I'm going to have a go at tiling it myself to reduce costs, so I will only have to pay for the suite to be installed. I was thinking of tiling the floor as well as the walls. Should the new suite be fitted and then the tiles cut to fit around the sink, bath etc? Or are you...

Hi all, I have wooden floorboards in a bedroom that I want to sand down with a handheld electric sander. The problem is that there are alot of nails that need to be pushed further down in to the wood, otherwise the sander will catch them. Is there a special tool that I can use along with...

    Sanding down walls.

Thanks for the reply. No its not projecting beyond the level of the wall. I just can't seem to get it smooth by sanding and I'm worried that when I paint it, the roughness will show though the paint. Should you be able to get plaster really smooth by sanding? Cheers.

    Sanding down walls.

Hi all. I am currently redecorating a bedroom in my house. We had a plasterer come around to have a look at the walls and he said that they didn't need skimming. I have stripped the wall paper off the walls and used polyfill on any cracks and holes, and I am now sanding the walls...
