    Toilet fitting problem

Can anyone tell me what sort of connector I would need to connect to a clay soil pipe, and how it would join with the inside of the clay pipe?. As you can see from the photo there is something in there already, although it is rather corroded and probably needs replacing. Thanks Mike

    Toilet fitting problem

Thanks Hugh, yes that was another option although it will bring the toilet right into the middle of the room, which I was hoping to avoid. Lowering the soil pipe isn't really an option, without major excavations as it goes into the ground and underneath the outside wall. I guess it wouldn't be...

    Toilet fitting problem

I am planning to fit a new toilet on the ground floor. It is served by a vertical outlet in a concrete floor. I have located a close coupled s-trap toilet that I would like to use (see photo below), but am not sure how I would go about connecting it to the exiting soil pipe (as shown in the...

    Another spur question

I may well do that, but I will still want to know what he is doing and why he's doing it... otherwise I will once again just have to "assume" that he has done a proper job! I made that assumption once with a shower and boiler installation which was done by fully qualified, corgi registered...

    Another spur question

I didn't measure the size of the cable... may latest assumption (sorry!) was based on a diagram located at a well-known DIY store that suggested that 4mm ring circuits are protected by 32A MCBs and 2.5mm circuits by 23 amp. Since my circuit is protected by 32A MCB I thought that maybe.... anyway...

    Another spur question

Thanks, yes, I take your point about not assuming! Yes, socket circuit is RCD protected

    Another spur question

I want to take a spur from a socket in my kitchen to supply a new double socket. However the socket from which I want to take the spur is itself supplied from an independent unfused switch which itself acts as a sort of junction box in the ring main. The existing socket supplies the...

    Cold Water Tank connections

I've discovered that there are also pressure reducing valves that just work on the high pressure supply... is there any merit in these as opposed to an equalising valve? Are there any that can they reduce pressure down to about 0.2 bars which I suspect will be the pressure produced by my cold...

    Cold Water Tank connections

[/url] Thank you! Glad you pointed this out to me.. I would never have thought of that. Since the bottom of the water tank won't be more than about 12 feet (if that) above the washing machine then I guess low pressure could be a problem for future washing machines if not the current one...

    Cold Water Tank connections

Thanks! Yes, I was intending to branch off well above the cylinder. Your tip about the location of an additional outlet on the cold water tank is also helpful, as I wouldn't have thought of that. So I'm I right in summarising: ideally a new outlet from cold water tank would be the thing to...

    Cold Water Tank connections

Thanks for the prompt reply Tony! Do you mean I should insert a T in the horizontal section of the existing cistern outlet pipe? I was planning to insert a T in the vertical section of the existing outlet just below the ceiling (in airing cupboard where hot water tank is located) with the...

    Cold Water Tank connections

Hi all, Wonder whether anyone can help with the following question. I need to connect up a downstairs bathroom to the cold water cistern in the loft so that I can use balanced pressure mixer valves (at present bathroom cold water is high pressure mains fed whilst hot water is low pressure...

    Engine cutting out

Hi thanks for this and for the link which is useful to have! Where would I find the fuel pump relay and what does it look like? Is it directly connected to the pump in the boot under the spare tyre? My car is 1.6 CL (engine type AKS, I think with Simos engine management system components...

    Engine cutting out

Been looking at the Haynes manual and they refer to a "coolant temperature gauge sensor" and a "fuel injection/preheating system coolant temperature sensor" which are combined with each other (presumably in the same unit). Is that what you mean? Thanks Mike
