    Which Trade?

If you're looking to do a short course to help with your refurb, I recon plastering would be useful. I'm not saying a five day course will make you into a great plasterer, but it will be a great help for all those smaller jobs around the house. especially as trade plasters aren't so keen on...

    My experience employing tradesmen

Very good post. Like any relationship, it's all about trust, good communication and helping each other to achieve the best results. If you were to do the same thing again I'm sure you'd do an even better job, as you would have learned from your first experience.

Plasterboard below bath line, do I need to prime?

In an ideal world you would replace the plasterboard with cement board. the black marks below the bath line indicate the seal between the bath and wall has broken down. the plasterboard may look ok but may well be rotten, and a new bath might not stick well to rotten plasterboard. If you decide...

    Do Tilers Use Tile Levellers?

I tried them a while back and I have to say they're not as good as they look on some on the youtube clips that i've seen. They force you to change your tiling technique. I've been told they work well on very large format tiles.

    King D.ck screwdriver.

It's like some kind if crazy voodoo magic. If they are as good as they seem, I reckon the inventor might be up for a pretty good Christmas bonus.

rating powertools from diy sheds dewalt metabo bosch etc

A couple that may have slipped under the net . Wickes (grey), Panasonic 15.6 . Lidl Parkside (jigsaw) All three, solid and dependable tools. in my opinion. For what its worth, Sparky core drill (total CARP) difficult to repair ,company not interested, waste of money.

is £200 a good price for outdoor rendering

It seems like quite a lot of work for very little money. it sounds like he doesn't know what he's doing. most builders wouldn't dig their cement mixers out of the van for £200. I would steer well clear if I was you.

    Core drill vs SDS drill

I've drilled many core holes with an sds. But the clutch wears thin pretty quickly. I wouldn't ruin a good sds on such jobs.

    New kitchen build.

I think you've done well with the space you've got . If it were possible to move the back door, you could add a few units, but it's a lot of work for two units. I would have a drainer sink if you insist on oak worktops. I was going to have oak in my own kitchen but I opted for oak-look laminate...

    Acrypol Question

Thanks for all your replies. At the time of the initial post I hadn't seen the roof. I've just seen it . It's basically an old industrial building 100m2 , it's been felted, then painted with silver stuff, it's had years of repairs with various products, most of the felt is in good condition, but...

    Acrypol Question

We have a flat concrete and steel roof that has a felt covering which has failed. the question is ,would flooding the area with an acrypol type product be a legitimate way of sealing the roof? Cheers Iaith.

    Career change, which trade?

Just a word about trains and stuff. I have a friend who started working for the railways from a job in the local job centre. after a few years of moving about and doing exams within the company he now drives a piece of machinery and I believe earns quite a bit more than 50k. tho the hours and...
