    Coverable Downlights?

They are fire-rated too. And I've already pulled the entire ceiling down...

    Coverable Downlights?

Anyone got any views on these new downlights that you can put insulation direct on to? http://www.downlightsdirect.co.uk/insulation-coverable-downlights.html I am thinking I'll fit them with 5W or 7W LED bulbs. I want to be able to dim them and there's no chance of getting rid of the...

Attaching Plasterboard - am I being a div?

Sorry if this is covered elsewhere but couldn't find it in the wiki or any online idiot guide. Am trying to board some walls and ceilings. One the walls they'll mainly be going into studwork, and on the ceiling I'm using resilient bars for soundproofing. I'll get a pro in to skim at the end...

What happens at the wall end of a resilient bar?

I'm putting up a ceiling with resilient bars and two layers of plasterboard (probably 19mm planks and 12.5 layer underneath). What happens to the space between the vertical wall and the first joist? The end of the resilient bars are just in mid-air. Is that ok with the weight of the boards...

Mk II: How does my DIY effort at a consumer unit look?

Thanks that's really clear. I'll try a couple more places for some sleeving, otherwise I'll just use tape. Shouldn't be a big job to put them on with the way the incoming tails run now. (unlike fitting the banjo on the SWA, which meant pulling everything out and starting again...)

Mk II: How does my DIY effort at a consumer unit look?

Few days back, I posted this: http://www.diynot.com/forums/electrics/how-does-my-diy-effort-at-a-consumer-unit-look.311484 Following on from some helpful comments I've had another go: - Biggest change was putting the earthing banjo on the SWA gland. Note it does have the black plastic...

Wall mounted basin taps - how much do you need to spend

Ok, how about these ones? http://www.tapstore.com/tapstore-sl3-wall-mounted-basin-set.html They have a ten year guarantee and from what I can tell are the tapstore.com own brand. Chinese rubbish or would be comfortable installing them?[/url]

Wall mounted basin taps - how much do you need to spend

Yes, it's a combi boiler and no hot water tank.

Wall mounted basin taps - how much do you need to spend

Sorry, meant to say that the shower supplied by the same mains and boiler in other part of flat has pretty decent flow.

Wall mounted basin taps - how much do you need to spend

I don't know exactly how good the water pressure is and I don't think there's an easy way to test with the bathroom ripped out now. The shower in the other part of the flat, supplied by the same boiler, is about the same though. Is it worth paying for a well-known brand then? Would I regret...

Wall mounted basin taps - how much do you need to spend

Am puzzled by the huge range of price for taps that look the same. It doesn't have to be the very best tap ever, but don't want to be replacing it in a couple of years, especially as I was going to bury them in the wall. Seems like the online places are cheaper, but are they ok on quality...

How does my DIY effort at a consumer unit look?

It goes up through two layers of 4"x2" studwork, does it need additional mechanical support?

How does my DIY effort at a consumer unit look?

Thanks re. the oven ring. Seems counter-intuitive to take out one of the cables in some ways, but it can be done easily. Maybe I should ask BC which they'd prefer? I was going just to use a standard cooker socket on the other end. As for attaching the SWA, I've attached a photo but if I...
