    BBQ

Wow this thread has brought out the britishness in us all. Not wanting to eat outside. And some xenophobic tendancies. And clearly there are people here who have had bad experiences but BBQ food can be amazing. The use of lump wood charcoal over briquettes, does make a diffetence to the taste...

    Vapour Control Layer

After a month, I wouldl expect most of the moisture to have gone. With a mono pitch roof one of the issues you may have is the moist air rising to the high point and having no where to escape to I would consider looking at some way to increase vetilation or air movement there..

Can I fill a wet trench with concrete

Yes digging sand is is not the best Idea, there cohld well be voids within the clay that may cause the footing to crack. The Idea of digging down to a untouched clay strata is that the firm clay can bear the weight of a building and as it is untouched these weight bearing characteristics should...

    Material for our new patio

Depending on your budget forinstance using granite stone setts really dont need cleaning... What do you like the look of? What can you afford? But as a general rule a pressire washer will deal with most external paving.

    Possible damp appearing on wall?

Hmmm the pic looks odd not what I would expect of damp. Is the line a ridge or lump in the plaster or is it just a dark mark? Is there any movement in it when you press on it? You say "the internal wall is on the gable end". So is this wall internal or external? As you say this mark has...

    Outside Garage

I concur with foxhole, condensation forms when moist air hits a cold surface. It would be possible to upgrade the roof but that would be questionable compaired to remove and replace.

    Vapour Control Layer

Sounds like a VCL could certainly help but you still need to deal with all the moist air in the room especially, if it is to become a kitchen. How do you intend to deal with extraction when it is in use? Also how long has this extension been built? As there will be a masdive amount of...

    BBQ

Following on from another thread, I take my BBQ pretty seriously and I "que" through out the year (new years eve) and was wondering if I was the only one, none of my friends can manage much more than the traditional british under cooked chicken and burnt sausages. So my question is, who else...

Pressure washer, steam cleaner advice ????

Hi, As far as patio cleaning goes I have a domestic sized (similar to the karcher k4) electric pressure washer that does all the little jobs round the home, cleans car, cleans paths/paving & garden furniture. And it does well. Perhaps your garden is much larger than mine but do you need...

    Expanding PU foam

The expanding foam can cause lots of issues, put to much in and your wall could belly out and yes it can act as a bridge for moisture to penetrate, you would be better off using a propriatary cavity closer system.

    Artex removal

1st you need to understand when it was installed if before 2000 it may contain asbestos. As for the removal of it i've had it where i've been able to scrape it off with a little elbow grease, and another case where I pulled the lath and plaster down and re board it.

Pulled pork is a pork shoulder joint cooked slowly (12+ hrs) on the bbq. Lots of seasoning and massive flavor that when cooked is so soft you can mash the joint with a wooden spoon. I cant claim to know about any recent popularity I grew up with yanks and have done what I call "real bbq" all...

    Damp wall

Hmmmm.... There does "seem" to be some issues with the pointing and possibly some further spalled bricks further up the elevation that could be allowing the ingress of water. Looking at the top patch, that seems to be some where near the arch above your door, could water be collecting...
