Have you had to stamp on the brakes recently? I had a similar on a Merc I owned. The pyrotechnic in the seat belt had exploded apparently, and it did happen right after I had to hammer the brakes on. Wire/pyrotechnic thingy majiggy replaced, sensor reset and job done.
