has anyone installed / can rec. an external pir to activate an intruder alarm system, i have used pyronix beam detectors before but would prefer a single detector if available, cheers

if red and yellow are perm live the switch is knackered the yell should only be live when the switch is in one position not perm live

hi John is the pic of the switch that is wired up as it was before? i.e. untouched by anyone original connections and was working? hom many cables are coming into this switch cant really tell if its a three core (red yell blue) and a two core (red black) cheers

hi seco, no the actual body that the solinoid is bolted to with the sensor bit at the bottom, the half moon clamp was fine, lucky for me my mate had kept an old one off a job and i knicked the bit off that, phew, thanks for your input tho. wondered if they have changed the material tho?

new oring still leaked :( changed plastic body all ok with old oring :D hairline crack in old plastic body new body black plastic old one white opaque plastic, not sure if there has been an upgrade in the material used? but hey all done.

i dont believe that yellow is earth at the light position

ah, was the light with the fan on it able to have the fan only without the light on? someone may have used the earth as a live carefully test with your meter if youhave 230 volts between the yellow cable and the black cable often done but totally wrong

why arent you mentioning 6A breakers? where are your lights fed from?

did you ask for a receipt or tell him "i`ll pay you cash so i dont have to pay you any vat tax etc" as if you did he wouldnt be able to give you a certificate as its tracable back to him. I am in the NICEIC :-( and now the inland revenue has access to the NICEIC certificate database so no more...

have you got any test meters or a simple multimeter? if this light ever worked before it may be the switch has welded together so the light is on all the time, the yellow is prob yellow and green and its the earth. test the switch first with the fuse out of course
