    Help Please, shower pumps

Hi Shower pumps have filters which need cleaning from time to time. Not a good idea to wall up shower pumps. I reckon you are going to have to gain access to them. You might find the repair is actually quite simple but no guarantees.

    Vokera Compact 28

Sorry TeTsuo36. I didnt mean to jump into your thread. Hope you get your boiler sorted. Thanks for the advice tonybhoy. I'm not sure the plate hex is blocked on the Linea. The c/h pressure is rising with the filling loop isolated. Thats why I believe its perforated. A new one is just over...

    Vokera Compact 28

Good point. My mistake. Im looking at a Vokera Linea 28 not a Compact. I know the Linea range has one. Not much help for the original posting however.

    Vokera Compact 28

Hi I'm going to one of these tomorrow with the same fault. I am pretty certain it is the plate heat exchanger letting water into the central heating system not the main heat exchanger. Can someone let me know if my diagnosis is flawed. If not the repair should be somewhat cheaper.

    Leaking bath - help!

Hi If your bath is now quite loose in its surrounding and all the old silicon is removed you could have a go at levelling it. Choose the most awkward foot to get to as your starting point and then go around clockwise twisting the adjustable feet slowly and checking the level after each...

    Unusual water flow problem

Hi A chap I know asked me to look at his water system as both his hot and cold bath taps run at very low pressure yet his shower in a neighbouring room works fine. Both are gravity fed. The two bath pipes and connectors are 22mm. The taps recently replaced. All other taps in the house have...

Moving washing machine to detached garage

Hi I have moved a washing machine to my garage because of the noise it made. Best thing Ive ever done in spite of it freezing solid last winter. Your waste pipe will be the biggest problem especially if you want the water to go uphill. I'm not sure the washing machine pump is designed to sort...

    Power shower and CWST

Hi I am involved in fitting a power shower and would appreciate some advice. I intend to get a Salamander CT50 with 15mm couplers to pump 20 litres per minute from the airing cupboard below the CWST to the shower about 5 meters away. The current CWST is 25 gallons with a single outlet to...

    Possible water leak!!!

Hi Remember there is always the possibility of cutting the pipes before they go under the concrete and re-piping above ground, leaving the leaking section buried and obsolete. Depends on the layout and who is covering the cost of repairs etc. but it is something I have done and considerably...

Hi If a repipe is necessary remember there may be a place you can access the pipes and switch them over without smashing the tiles up.

Mono mixer: holding base firm for washer renewal

Hi I use a long box type spanner to slip over the nut with a thin bar or screwdriver in the relevant slot of the spanner to lever it around. Sometimes you can only turn by a few degrees at a time which can be tricky when youre cramped and upside down. However if you can hold the spanner still...

    Ratchet pipe cutters

I bought one but have never used it. Mine does not work by tightening itself onto the pipe as you cut but has to be continually retightened like a traditional screw thread pipe cutter. Bit of a pain. I do not know if they are all like this.

    Washing machine in garage

Even if you manage to insulate the pipework adequately - including the drainage trap - you can still get the pipework within the washing machine freezing up, especially at the entry and exit points. I certainly did. Had to lug the machine indoors to thaw it out. Luckily there was no permenant...

No hot water on Potterton Performa 24

Thanks for your prompt response Boilerman2. I will get the pressures checked and change the temperature sensor and the safety thermostat. I will let you know how it goes. By down rate these boilers do you mean set the max and min gas pressures to the lower permitted reading of each one?

No hot water on Potterton Performa 24

Hi. Can someone help me with the above. The Potterton Performa 24 combi boiler is about 8 years old. The central heating works fine on its own. However, the hot water will only work for about 15 seconds and then the burner turns itself off, so very little warm water arrives at the tap, which...

All I want is a decent shower

Hi The electric shower with a pump as part of the unit would be a cheaper option. You would still need a separate tank - I think - and the shower would not be as strong as a power shower but the flow rate is at least consistent. Triton are one supplier I know of.

    VERIFIRE Gas Fire

Hi Has anyone any information on the Switchcraft Remote Control system ignition on a Verifire Ultra gas fire. There seems no user controls on the fire itself only 2 electric switches on the wall similar to a double light switch. The first operates the gas flow (either HALF or FULL). The second...

    Underground Leak Detection

I am thinking that unless you can stop using each appliance for a few days and see if things dry out digging might be your best option. No doubt if you do identify the source of the leak you will have to start digging anyway to repair it so you might as well bite the bullet and have a look now.
