I put a non return valve in the waste pipe between the bath and whb, to prevent syphoning from the bathe when the whb empties.

laying decking on top of existing patio?

The "splashback" effect shown on the above sketch would be no worse than rain penetrating. The DPC is to prevent rising damp, rising from the "GROUND" and not dampness penetrating from outside to in. If it was a solid patio which was level with internal floor, there would be a risk of water...

    kitchen taps

But wouldn't it overpower the hot if they were both running at the same time. I had the same problem and found that between the cylinder and the tap, there were 3 stop taps, which I repaced with gate valves and now all is fine. Obviously the stoptaps were restricting the flow too much and for...

    Boiler Overheat

A further update is that the system is still running, but I have found that when I reduced the pump speed 1 below maximum, there was an overheat. Reduce one digit more and there is a different sound on the pump, so hpefully the matter is now resolved. I will get a new pump fitted and in the...

    Boiler Overheat

An update on this query is that after turning the Grundfos pump speed to maximum, (it has always been one digit below) the system ran fine overnight. Today I have increased the boiler temp from Mar 3 to Mark 4 as it is normally, and also increased the room stat from 21 to 23 degrees (as it...

    Boiler Overheat

Sorry, my mistake in stating gravity hot water. The system has run OK for 6 years and was installed and has been service twice a year by CORGI engineer. It is he that has renewed the components mentioned above, although did state it was not the fan, but I asked for a change, whilst work was...

    Boiler Overheat

The system is pumped heating and gravity hot water. The pump does run on for a few minutes, but I have noticed that the pump is not on maximum, so I have now turned to maximum in case this would help, but everything has been OK up until now.

    Boiler Overheat

The fan, thermostat sensor and oveheat thermostat have all now been changed. The system ran for 9 hours without overheating, with the boiler thermostat setting set at just below 4 on the regulator. After tunring up to 4, within an hour, the overheat light was showing and the boiler shut down...

    Mirror from Ikea

Be a bit careful here. If you use ordinary silicone or no nails, it will probably pull off the silvering to the back of the mirror. Mirror Mate won't, that is what it is for.

    Out of Level Floor

I don't want to increase the level at the high point, so want to feather it from 0 to 25mm. Wi;; be putting the timber floor (the type similar in size to normal laminate flooring). There is a dpc, the screed is solid and no dampness.

    Out of Level Floor

Didn't know if this should go here, or under Floors? I have a utility room which has a concrete floor in it. The room width is 3m but in that distance, the floor is out of level by 20-25mm. Any suggestions in how to level it without taking up the existing screed? Levelling compound would be...
