    What works for me is a small amount of silicone on the strainer (plug hole) and a larger amount below before you put the nut on, tighten the nut (not so tight as to crush the washer) and leave to set.

    If the people that make this stuff did there job properly you should not have to use any silicone or extra sealer the washers should work. But in reality you generally have to use a sealant to get a perfect seal, which sealant you use is a matter of preference, i prefer silicone

    The Flow switch is faulty , you can buy replacement from mira.(part no 439.77 i think but check first.) but if you cant fit it yourself it may be cheaper to get a complete unit and fit that yourself.

    Corgiman just very similar to problems i have had with larger systems and adding rads to existing pipework, Its is poss that the water flow to the new rad is very poor and thus only the top gets hot.

    Try shutting all other rads off if the new radiator then gets hot all over, it is a flow ploblem and you need to adjust the lockshield ends of the rads to deliver a better flow to the new rad. Should have been done at installation of new rad but often overlooked.
