    on average we get one a month, and they usually last for about an hour, although somtimes they can last up to 3 hours or so. Just got to find the money for a massive 3 phase, 250KVa diesel back up generator...............

    by 18amp i guess you mean 1.5mm2 SWA? This is a wee bit too small for the job idealy. What sort of load will those sockets be supplying? And i presume by security lights you mean 500w halogen lights?......

    we have two sockets under the sink here by a mass of pipework. Its acceptable in the eyes of the regs, just isn't the best way of doing this things. somthings you have to live with!

    I'll probably get shot down for saying somthing like this....oh well Been thinking about this and the most common thing i can think of is electric fences, If somone on the forum wants to say how they work, as i dont know, it might be possible to adapt one. Stick some huge yellow warning...

    your RCD is only rated at 40amps? and you have a shower or other appliance running on a 45 amp breaker. I would recomend the RCD be changed to a higher rated one.

    I have just bought an elderly 110v transformer (CTE). It is rated at 2Kva continuous. My question is how much does this mean i can draw? if i rememeber Kva and watts are not directly related, ie its not a 2Kw transformer. What rating of fuse would you recomend i use in the primary side? thanx

    Well its a brand new house, so it really shouldn't have problems like this in the first place. Another thing to go into the "snagging" list. lol just a thought, would this also mean the voltage drop would be too high on this circuit?

    hey, i did some more measuring! The house works out at about 140m2 including kitchen, although this is on a seperate circuit. although the upstairs floor is larger, as it goes over the garage.

    Hi there, i was doing some measuring today, and it struck me. How big is the area a ring main can serve? my believe was that it is 100m2 but when i was mesauring today i noticed the ground floor of my house is larger than 100m2!
