    Radiator air locked?

Interesting point. I have no idea, never saw the box opened but the guide online doesn’t mention anything. It’s a Milano Skye with a central h block valve underneath

    Radiator air locked?

I believe boiler should be ok. I checked he output and then went round and sized every rad up. Can’t remember exact results but seemed a lot spare Once I start balancing do I have to wait for the first rad to get up temp to check for the 12 degrees difference or do it as it’s warming up?

    Radiator air locked?

Would an infra red thermometer gun thing work ok? I have one of these and seems reliable? Or do I need something proper

    Radiator air locked?

Hello, I have had a small extension built with a vertical radiator installed. Only 3 out of the 5 panels get hot. The 3 to the left. The 4th gets slightly warm the 5th almost nothing My system is gravity fed and 10mm microbore feeding each radiator It was drained to fit the radiator and has...

    Extension wont pass BCO

I didn’t mean it like that. Especially as I’m unlikely to need one ever again Buyer beware for everything, never have before to be honest. Always been too trusting.

    Extension wont pass BCO

This is what I was told by the lot I am in touch with. Also sent an enquiry to the one recommended on here so hopefully I won’t need it then I never have to go near my “Architect” ever again To go back to an earlier point, I think it is buyer beware. Now just to state clearly the builder...

    Extension wont pass BCO

Still can’t get in touch with my architect. Works from home. Is never in and won’t respond to any calls or emails. Looking into it a bit more I’m trying to work out if I’ve made an error His website classes him as an architectural designer. His BSc is in architectural technology. So he isn’t...

    Extension wont pass BCO

Thanks all for taking the time. Most helpful and I’ve learnt a lot throughout having this done. The main lesson is move house and never have work done ever again..... It turns out, unbeknown to me I have a relative who works at a firm where they do this sap kind of thing (not his job as he is...

    Extension wont pass BCO

I wish life was that easy. It seems he isn’t very responsive at the present time. Maybe I should give him the benefit of the doubt and suggest he is on holiday ....

    Extension wont pass BCO

Ok thanks for reading. I’m not confused between planning and building notice. At the start we got a builder round to give us an idea on costs. Costs seemed doable so he put us in touch with an architect. Our brief to him was fairly simple, we want a 4m extension. Is this allowed under...

    Extension wont pass BCO

Well that’s the thing. Either he didn’t read it or something because I never knew about the conditions. He just said good to go. I would have thought to someone in the know it was obvious about the amount of glazing. So he should have pointed out when he was drawing up the plan

    Extension wont pass BCO

Hi Guys, Looking for a bit of guidance with my extension, please bear with me. I got an architect back in January to draw me up a plan for what is basically a 4m x 3.7m extension. I was quite specific on what I wanted in terms of how I wanted it to look. So he rang building control up and...

    Rain water drain question

Not sure I do, other than from what I’ve read water company’s like to keep it separate so I figured something built in 97 would more than likely have had to have separate systems. I was making a guess that they stopped using combined systems in the “olden days”. Unless they do still build...

    Rain water drain question

I assume it’s separate as the house was built in 97 and I can’t see anywhere where the rainwater connects to the foul water. I have a couple of manholes but can trace them only to the house waste. The drain pipes have some ridding points but looks like these just go off to the road. Drains...

    Rain water drain question

Ok just calculated how much water actually comes off the roof..... water butt not a great idea

    Rain water drain question

Ok well I guess I knew they could refuse to sign it off. Just kind of wondering what my options are now. Or the builders more to the point. Either means lots of digging round the extension to route it back to where it was originally or is a water but an option? Most the water goes back to the...

    Rain water drain question

That was my thinking after reading up. The thing is, one side of the new roof can go in the existing surface drain, the water off the other side cannot now, guttering and drain pipes can’t be routed round to the other side. They probably should have been put underground before the build...

    Rain water drain question

Hi I had what could be described as a lean to on the back of the house. Was part of the original house. The water off the house roof was fed onto this little roof which then was fed Into what I assume is surface water drain to the left hand side. I have now had an extension built onto this...

    Lightwave knowledge

Thanks everyone. It’s all a bit annoying really, I originally bought nest and was under the impression it was eventually to work with apple homekit. Google buying nest as out an end to that. Although I don’t care for the smart aspect of Nest (doesn’t seem smart at all to me, in fact it seems a...

    Radiator H valve

Hi guys I have one of these on my radiator. See picture I want to take the radiator off for painting. One side I have would the trv fully in. How do I turn off the other side? There is a cap which unscrews to reveal a nut over a hexagon key in the middle but doesn’t seem to want to budge...
