i presume that i can do this safely with all the power on?

I have a scantronic 9000 alarm system in a house i recently bought. Upstairs there is a second smaller keypad that is connected to the system. I want to rip this out and remove it as its not required. How do i do this without upsetting the alarm system. I havethe user codes to unset the alarm.
