    ARGOS kitchen Mixer Tap

If the olive fits quite snuggly when slipped on, then it is 15mm, if it is simply not tightening up too well, then perhaps you have brass olives which tend to be a bit tougher. You can buy seperate copper ones which tighten up easier.

    shower pump connection gone wierd

They didnt branch off one of the pipes that supply the pump did they? Or perhaps the flow switches are getting a bit over sensitive in there old age and didnt quite appreciate the drain down.( especially if a bit of silt from the tank made its way down the feed when it was filled back up)...

    Chrome Waste Pipe

Be warned. If it is part of a set that comes with its own chrome bottle trap, it might not be of a regular 32mm size. This might make it a pain to match up with any UK spec pipe. We get this problem a lot. As the pipe passes through the wall, we often have to use a universal coupling. Often the...

Chrome finish pipe covers. Where do you get 'em?

Yes - the ones to cover radiator tails. B&Q do white ones, but I am after chrome finish ones. A while back I found some on google, but bugger if I can find them again.

    Bathroom Refurb / Low Pressure

Off the top of my head, the Mira Excel gives excellent flow rates. I recommend them all the time. Watch out for the foreign branded stuff that is available - even if they are for use with a combi; they can be very restictive and bottleneck flow.

    fitting a shower tray

Regardless of what the guys used before to bed the tray down ( Probably Gripfill or similar ), you really shouldn't use it again. Follow the manufacturers instuctions and use a weak mortar bed ( with anti crumbling additive ) on a marine ply base. This will allow greater tweaking over levelling...

Shower Pump Installation - AAV vs. flange

Depends on what make of pump you have, some are more flexable than others. Whenever possible, I drain down the tank and cylinder a bit and drill an essex flange. I prefer this to Sussex flanges, because like your pumber already said, you can get a few problem with old cylinders. If you do...

Siliconing with wet tools... Is this no longer done??

Hello again. Well I'm glad I'm not the only one who hasnt heard of this. The article was in the Sunday Telegraph. They have a chap called Jeff Howell who does an advice column called 'On The Level'. I have searched the website to see if it was repeated, but it wasnt. I have the actual paper on...

Siliconing with wet tools... Is this no longer done??

Today, I was about to silicone my customers showertray, when he shoved under my nose an article in the paper about mouldy silicone. Apparantly, the advice now is to apply and finish silicone with dry tools and not to use wet tools. I was a bit stumped as to what to do next and told him that if...

WC not aligning with soil pipe

We encounter this a fair bit. We recommend to our customers stack pipe replacement outside, but they usually prefer a cheaper option. Unfortunately, it is always a cut back job. We do it with an angle cutter and it only takes a few minutes. If you cant cut all the way around, a quick tap with a...

    Why wont my toilet flush?

Sounds like your diaphram has gone. This is a large plastic washer that sits in the siphon and drags up the water to cause a siphonic action. After a while it perishes. To change it, you have to dismantle your cistern. This can be a pain if the nuts have rusted up. You also have to make sure you...

    Pedestal basin without the pedestal

If the basin was never intended to be wall hung, I wouldnt risk it. Wall hung basins have been manufactured and balanced to allow them to be wall hung.

    shower tray

Sorry freind, but you are confusing me. The waste from a shower tray needs to be run from underneath the shower tray. You cannot divert it back up and drill it out from the side of the tray. http://www.mx-group.com/pdfs/fitting_instructions/ShowerTrayFitIns.pdf Give this link a try. It...

3 Bar twin pump for shower

Yes you can, but certain criteria needs to met. The cold water storage tanks need to be large enough to cope with the demand. Either replace with a larger one or stick another next to the existing and link together. The feed from the CW storage to the pump will need to be unique tapped in feed...

    Fitting a shower pump

Indeed you can buy shower pumps that boost the flow. It is often better sited in the airing cupboard next to the HW cylinder and should be powered by a 3amp fused spur ( although 'Salamander' pumps come supplied with 3 amp plug fitted ). The cold supply needs to be a new feed tapped from the...
