    Driverless cars,think it could work?

I desperately hope it never happens in my lifetime. I drove an automatic for the first time a couple of weeks ago and hated every second of it. Never have I had so little enjoyment from driving. :(

    Road Rage

Totally agree with you secures - i've recently started cycling to work, and fortunately I don't have to cycle on too many busy roads, and i'm mostly completely off-road, but when I am on the road, I do everything I can to make sure I don't get in the way of car drivers. There's one simple...

    Christmas

Aaaah, you mean panic buying all manner of food because the supermarkets are going to be closed for a week, oh wait, no sorry, I mean........36hours..... As I said, I'm not being a Scrooge about Christmas, I love it and I love the chance it gives me to spend time with the family, but...

    Christmas

Right, now i've got two children, and i'm a big kid myself, so I love Christmas. If we get snow too, its my favourite time of year. But I am 100% against it starting in August/September. I see absolutely no reason whatsoever why Christmas needs to be mentioned anywhere before 1st December, or...

    A half baked theory

The problem is that we, as humans, tend to be much more inclined to complain about people who have upset us than we are to praise those that have done something good. If you're pleased with something you buy or a service you've received, most people might tell other people how good it was if...

    up the garden path...

Well when I went to school (not all that long ago) we were taught that the 'rule of thumb' for rounding was that anything half way between or over should be rounded UP and anything below half way should be rounded down. Therefore 4949mm would be rounded DOWN to 4.9m 4950 would be rounded UP...

    up the garden path...

Am I missing something here? 1/10 of a metre is 10cm. So the garden has been measured to the nearest 10cm or 0.1m. If you want the answer in mm, I would say the shortest it could possibly be is 4950mm and the longest it could be is 5049mm. Is that correct?

    The TV programme...

Just on that thought - went to a museum last week that was opened by Prince Charles. Whilst opening it, they'd got him to do a hand-print in clay and its now displayed on the wall in the museum. He has REALLY small hands.....

    Samsung Galaxy S3

Crank - i've had the S3 since mid-July - very very happy with it, so i'm sure you wont be disappointed with your new phone. Can't help with S-Voice though, I've found voice controls to only ever be used until the novelty wears off (usually about 2weeks at the most) and then never used again, so...

    Park Homes

Andy, The plot next door hasn't got so much space on it, so not sure there'd be room to get another home inbetween the two. Besides which, this plot has a pre-fab garage on one side and two timber sheds on the other side, so hopefully these existing structures would give her some protection...

    Park Homes

Andy, Thanks for that - all very useful and a lot of it rings true. The site has a security gate so you can't gain access if you haven't got the code so that adds some level of security and when we went to look at it yesterday, the people in the neighbouring home were in their garden, as we...

    Park Homes

You don't buy the land with a park home, she'll have to pay ground rent for the land - so that wont help...

    Park Homes

Hi pred, No they don't - certainly not on the park that my mum is looking at anyway, as the one she's thinking of buying is nearly 20years old. They are pretty permanent structures - some of the others on the site have conservatories, porches and extensions built on to them...

    Park Homes

Hi guys, Does anyone have any experience and or knowledge of 'park homes' - by which I mean basically static caravans which are permanently sited and used by people to live in, as opposed to static caravans on holiday parks. My mum is considering buying one to live in and its unknown...

    Bathroom Tiles

Apart from anything else - wont this cause a problem in the doorway - ie unless you've currently got a fair gap under the bathroom door, you'll have to cut the thickness of the tile + adhesive off the bottom of the door (which may or may not be possible) and you'll end up with a diffence in...

    Olympics closing ceremony

I too enjoyed May's guiter solo - but is it possible to play an electric guitar that isn't plugged in?? Can you get wireless guitars these days? Amazing to see that Freddie can still get the crowd doing what he wants them to do, despite the fact he died over 20 years ago. :D Shame they...

    Scrap Metal

Thanks Diane, I'm aware metal prices are high now, but i'm unsure how valuable rusty metal is to anyone? I'm guessing its worth nothing. I think probably the bathtub is the only thing that might possibly be worth anything. If that is the case then I'd be more than happy to see the back of...

    Scrap Metal

Hi guys, We've taken on an allotment and having now felled the wilderness that had grown in this recent wet weather, we've uncovered no end of, to put it politely, junk. Some of this is an array of metal objects ranging from an old steel bath, a big oil drum, cans, metal bars/poles and what...
