    On my bike

That's a very personal question!! I'll probaby be 32 by the time we do this. But one of the guys who says he'll do it with me will 58 by then. We're all reasonably fit (now.....I very much wasn't 18months ago!!) but none of us are by any means athletes or professionals. Not sure yet...

    On my bike

Hi guys, In a moment of madness, I decided to attempt to 'cycle to the seaside' this summer. Now obviously, the difficulty level of such a thing depends on where you're starting from. Well we're going to be cycling from Derbyshire, from the heart of the Peak District National Park, across to...

I was using diynot on my phone earlier - not sure how, but that resulted in the echo of my last post.....

    Clocks

It's been running for over 24hrs now - I've just stopped it to adjust the pendulum and started it off again and so far so good - been ticking for 10mins now.... The adjustment is fool-proof as there's an arrow above the adjustment screw pointing one way for "F" and the other for "S"...

    Clocks

I'm baffled!! We tried all of last week to get it working and finally on Thurs/Friday got it ticking without the pendulum on for well over 24hours. So Saturday morning I stopped it and put the pendulum back on - straight back to where we started and couldn't get it to tick. Tried throughout...

    Clocks

Thanks Wotan - I assume when you say 'left' and 'right' you're talking when looking at the clock face - so the winder close to the "4" is for the clock and the one near the "8" is for the chimes? Friction crutch? Should I ask what that is? Or if I don't know without asking, is that a sign...

    Clocks

Hi guys, Thanks for the responses. I wasn't suggesting I was about to start taking the clock to pieces and try and get it working - I was more looking for pointers on just setting it up and getting it going. For instance, does anyone know which winder is for the clock and which is for the...

    Clocks

Does anyone know anything about wind up, clockwork clocks. We've got an antique (1940s) mantel clock and we can't get it to go.... it'll run for a while but then the pendulum just stops... Not really sure where to start...??? Anyone any ideas....

    Domain name

I can concur that 123-reg are worth a look. We've recently switched our domain registration and site hosting to them. Tried to go to 1&1 first but after 2weeks of messing about with them and getting nowhere with the transfer we told them to forget it, went to 123-reg instead and it was all...

Oh the vermin are at it again.

As Gasbaani said, my brother-in-law is a farmer and he has a game-keeper who comes every now and again shooting foxes on his land at night. He seems to have no problem keeping their numbers under control using this method...

    SPOILER ALERT!!! Santa....

If you're going to go to bed on Dec 24th and wake up the next morning, fully expecting to have had a visit from a big man in a red suit who has let himself into your home via your chimney, DO NOT read on!!! For everyone else.... how did or does Santa 'work' in your house? This is something my...

    Ipod screen replacement

Well the glass isn't an issue as its smashed already and will be going in the bin, and the back of the ipod is metal so that should be ok. I had to loosen up the glue on a HTC phone I did earlier this year and a hairdryer did the trick with that - think i'll go down the hairdryer route first...

    Ipod screen replacement

Cheers big-all, Firstly, its not mine (not an i-*** person myself), its a friend's, so there's the added complication of having to go back to them and say that whereas it did have a broken screen.... its now completely useless!! But they're happy that there's a risk something might go wrong...

    Ipod screen replacement

so are you saying it'll survive it?? - or that leaving your ipod on your dashboard in summer is not a good idea? My instinct is that its a daft thing to do - but maybe I underestimate the robustness of electronic devices...?

    Ipod screen replacement

Hi guys, Has anyone DIY'd a screen replacement on an iPod touch 4th Gen? I've done screen replacements on smartphones before, but i've been watching videos online of the iPod screen replacement and it looks a bit more tricky - mainly due to that fact that much of the things is glued together...

do you think alot of PC use harms kids eyesight?

I don't know how bad for the eyes it is, but one thing you should do to limit the damage is to make sure the displays aren't too bright. My optician told me they should be as dim as is comfortable and don't sit too close. Also try and set the background to darker colours if possible. Most...

    Sealing cartons

I used to work in a warehouse and we sent boxes all over the world sealing them up with 2inch wide brown tape - but as someone has already said, you need to pay for it - if you pay 10p a roll for it then don't expect it to be very good - you get what you pay for in most cases....
