    Those camera shots that move.

Is this also how it is done on 'The Cube'? The game show with Phillip Schofield where video of the action inside 'the cube' is paused and the camera appears to circle around them to a different angle?

    wasps!?

Wotan, i'm all ears for alternatives! The point i'm at now is that a choice between the wasps living there and my children being in the allotment without risk of being stung, the wasps i'm afraid lose. And just to play devil's advocate - what purpose do wasps have? I'm not being rude - I...

    wasps!?

Thanks guys, so when you say dark.... This is not in our garden but on our allotment and there's no light down there, so gonna be somewhat hazardous doing it after dark!! I'm amazed I didn't get stung yesterday, and how calm I was when the missus shouted - i just calmly turned around and...

    wasps!?

Some of you may recall I posted on here earlier this year asking for advice about an allotment we had just taken on. Well, it pretty much rained ever since, so with this better weather, we've finally started to tackle it!! Its turned into a jungle since then, so armed with a petrol strimmer...

    Website hosting

Hi guys, can anyone recommend a website hosting company. we already have a website so don't need any website design service or domain registering service, we just need a new company to host the site and handle our e-mails. Obviously we're looking for value for money, but we also want a...

Useless purchases or why the hell did I buy that.

Pred - i've had it out the box so infrequently that I couldn't even tell you what make it is!!! I've heard bad things about Silverline power tools - never had any myself though. I've got some Silverline hand tools and never had any issues with them, in fact they seem pretty good for DIY use at...

Useless purchases or why the hell did I buy that.

I was given a router as present (I did ask for it, so I'm not trying to pass the blame...), I've had it out of the box a few times, played around with it, even turned it on once, very briefly - must have had it 6 years now and its still 100% sawdust free - hasn't been within 10ft of a piece of...

    Mobile phone jargon

Another tip if you're switching away from the network you are with at the moment - check the network's coverage in the areas you spend most of your time. I recently found a good deal on Three as pred suggested, but their coverage where I live and work is just about zero - so no good for me at...

    Video streaming freeze

John - done the speed test on both pc and laptop - pretty much similar:- PC - Ping 40ms, Down 2.91 Mbps, Up 0.67Mbps Laptop - Ping 51ms, Down 2.93 Mbps, Up 0.67 Mbps The PC has 500Mb Ram, but a 2.8Ghz chip, the laptop 1Gb Ram but only 1.8Ghz processor. Could it be a RAM issue?

    Video streaming freeze

Right, I tried IE and the same thing happens, and I tried both FF and IE without anything else running. I also brought the laptop next to the pc and tried watching the same video at the same time on both devices - it ran fine on the laptop, stopped after 5 seconds on the desktop. When I...

    Video streaming freeze

John, have tried Chrome instead of firefox - didn't get on with it all and went back to firefox. Although, saying that - I don't know why i didn't think to try a different browser to see if it makes any difference. Will try IE and see what happens.

    Video streaming freeze

Diyisfun - I still haven't tried it out of peak times (not entirely sure what times to try??). And I still don't understand how the internet speed can be to blame when the same problem doesn't occur on other devices using the same internet connection - we use the laptop to stream films from...

    E-mail accounts in Outlook Express

Hi, I use Outlook Express as my e-mail client and have a number of e-mail accounts which OE checks for me. I've recently added another e-mail account to OE and for some reason it has changed the way OE replies to e-mails. When I go to create a brand new e-mail, the new e-mail window...

    Video streaming freeze

But why do videos run fine on our laptop - at any time of the day? That uses the same internet connection? And using the laptop downstairs it doesn't always have a very strong wi-fi signal, but still videos work fine....? I'll try at other times of the day and see if that helps....

    Video streaming freeze

Can anyone help. When i'm trying to watch videos online, my pc plays them fine for a short period (this seems to be either exactly 5 seconds, or exactly 10 seconds, never any longer and nothing inbetween??) and then just freezes. It doesn't matter if its live video - just tried it with the...

    outdoor music

Thanks john, sorry, I meant to say that we've organised a pub to provide the bar and as you say, they'll deal with the licence for that. Hadn't thought of public liability though, will look into that. Was more the playing of live music I was wondering about and ifwe need any permissions from the...

Hi, Were trying to organise a fundraising might at our sons school which will include a bar and a live band and disco, hopefully, if the weather let's us, in the playground/playing fields at the school. Does anyone know what licences/permissions we'll need for this to go ahead and who we...
