Starting camera on track, end camera and x amount of intermidiate cameras to follow the gymnast.
The vault you can see and the background is already filmed.......the gymnast is overlayed onto the footage of the vault. If you see the slow mow, watch the vault change slightly.

It's called the Bullet Time effect and is done with a circle of cameras around the level of the pole which take a series of still pictures. Skilful editing creates the illusion of the camera moving round the person.

Is this also how it is done on 'The Cube'? The game show with Phillip Schofield where video of the action inside 'the cube' is paused and the camera appears to circle around them to a different angle?

Yes, exactly the same. They tried to create the same effect on the Gadget show once, using about 30 or 40 cameras, then editing the video and adding the still shots in sequence. Apparently the art is in setting the still cameras accurately.
I've admitted i've seen 'The Cube' but not that i watch it.
