I know that I can get bulb holder as I work in a wholesalers... I cant just replace the fittings as they are converter fittings that go over larger holes.

Hi, I want to convert my 12v 50w MR16 lamps to 230v GU10 compact fluorescent (only about 11 watt each) my question is: is it safe to do this when the fittings only state 12v 50w max? I know I would have to change the bulb holder but is it safe to convert them or do I need new fittings? Thanks

Can cables be crimped before they enter the consumer unit so you have nice fresh cable in side the board, The cables would sit behind the mounting board?

Because my cooker RCBO is faulty and I have managed to get hold of a brand new 16a one from a friend. They are very expensive at £40+

Could the breaker be lowered to say a 16a without causing any problems?

It may be a stupid question but how would a 32a breaker protect a cooker pulling less than 13a?

I dont think I will attempt 2.5mm flex in to a domestic plug..... 1.5mm will do this trick :) and would it be OK to change the connection unit to a double socket? can you even get 6mm in to one!?

Hi, Can the wires from an RCBO be cut to length for the consumer unit? There is too much lenght on the earth and neutral, also is there any reason why the neutral is coiled? Thanks

Think I may just stick a 6a MCB in there until an RCBO pops up on ebay.

Hi, I need to replace a faulty RCBO in my consumer unit and can only seem to get hold of type C. Is this OK to use in a domestic property? Maybe it will stop the RCBO tripping when a bulb blows? I have a Merlin Gerin Isobar 4 board and my local wholesaler says they dont do type B for them.
