    Hi, I was looking in a control panel today at work and saw that the secondary side of a 230/110v (55v, 0v, 55v) transformer had its 0v attached to the body of the transformer. Why would this be done? Thanks

    I'm not saying you would want to but I just wondered if that's how it was done in big factories or offices where they have lots of lights on one circuit but lighting terminals would only accept certain cable sizes.

    Hi, I have some 12v batteries (the type used in alarm panels) that I need to charge. Sitting on my shelf I have a 50VA 12v AC Transformer and a bridge rectifier... If i put the two together would this safely charge the batteries? If not what is the best way to do it? Thanks

    I have seen a few people talk about using merlin boards etc but they dont do type B RCBOs and they tend to be the norm in domestic properties do they not?

    On RCBO protected circuits is there any requirement for capping to be installed protecting cables? The reason I ask is because my utility room is boarded out and behind is rough old stone (getting a fixing is a pain!) so if I can help it I dont want to put any on for the light switch & socket...
