Zanussi WJD1257W no heat on dry cycle

I have a Zanussi WJD1257W, product number 914601406/00 which no longer seems to heat on the dry cycle. I've seen in a different forum that there is a way to test the dryer via the diagnostics/engineer mode, but think it was for a slightly different version and managed to get an E93 error when...

    Zanussi WJD1257W E93 error

Thanks CaptainC. Looks like I'm back in. Time to see if I can get back to the original problem and sort the dryer side out.

    Zanussi WJD1257W E93 error

I have a Zanussi WJD1257W which suddenly did not want to spin. I went into diagnostics mode to try to check for any fault codes, and somehow managed to end up fixing the spin issue, but in the process also managed to turn the 'beeps' off, and had no heat on dry cycle. Following some...

    Zanussi wjd1257 dryer timer problem

Thanks Zipper. I was pretty sure that was the case. Light's a bit naff and there's not a lot if room to work in, so I couldn't be absolutely certain and didn't want to risk splitting the hose trying to then find out I'd got it wrong. The NTC is definitely where the problem was though:)

    Zanussi wjd1257 dryer timer problem

Hey Zipper, One (hopefully) last question. The NTC has a plastic bit on the end for the contacts that has a lip, and a sort of metal tube with a lip. Between the lips is a gap of about 3 mm. Should the metal lip be inside the hose (i.e. should the hose wall should fit snugly between the 2...

    Zanussi wjd1257 dryer timer problem

Cheers for that. I was looking at the same part on the same site, but not having ordered spares for these things before, I was just trying to verify with Zanussi to be sure (can't find it on Zanussi's site). As a side note, have you seen the prices on the Zanussi site? They want £13 for a...

    Zanussi wjd1257 dryer timer problem

Thanks Zipper. Looks like you might be bang on there. Unless I'm not using my meter properly (possible but unlikely) I'm seeing 0 ohms whether hot or cold. Just verifying part numbers with Zanussi then I can get one ordered. Part Number I'm finding is 3792171021 - don't know if that's correct...

    Zanussi wjd1257 dryer timer problem

I agree that the door open issue is likely to be a red herring. I get an error to do with the door being open pretty often - think the switch is likely on it's way out or needs cleaning. Opening and closing always sorts it, though obviously I need to have propper look to head of it packing up...

Thanks Zipper. The error code shown is E41.

    Zanussi wjd1257 dryer timer problem

PNC is 914601406/00. There is also a Type No which is: P6347670 - don't know if that helps too? I've managed to add a photo of the control panel to an album, and have tried to include here, but am not sure how or even if it's possible. If the image doesn't show here, I've only uploaded 1...

    Zanussi wjd1257 dryer timer problem

The washing side of things seems fine, but the dryer seems to get about 20min into a cycle and then jumps to the end. ie setting timer for 50 min seems to go ok till about 30min remaining, then suddenly is on last minute and finishes. Same applies at 1:50 suddenly jumps from about 1:30 to...

    Intermittent ignition

Think I've now sorted. Gas safe man wanted to replace pcb for DHW fault (was DHW h/e blocked). In swapping out, much if pcb was disconnected to gain access to h/e. Connections were very stiff. Disconnecting, board contact to air flow switch ended up with a dry joint. Touch of solder seems...

    Intermittent ignition

I've a Halstead Ace High that had problems with DHW not working. Put inline filter (spiratech) changed DHW h/e. Ran with Fernox F3 for 1 week and all was fine. Drained system, refilled with F1 inhibitor added. Boiler worked fine for a few short water draws and heating fired. looked good for...

Halstead Ace High not modulating burner on DHW

Erm, sorry I disagree there. I could have got a corgi registered engineer, who'd paid his Corgi fees and possibly knowss less about gas than me?! Then something goes 'boom' and..... How come if someone makes a mistake then it's a major issue, but the government can switch from something...

Halstead Ace High not modulating burner on DHW

As it happens, he is GSR registered, and to be fair, he seems to know what he's doing; at least in the main. I only started this post because I've recently been made redundant and am therefore loath to spend Halstead prices for a board. The thing that now REALLY bugs me is that if any small...

Halstead Ace High not modulating burner on DHW

???? Hang on, I thought Corgi was registered/trained to work with gas? What's GSR? I've been referring to him as 'Corgi Man' just so I can refer to him without divulging who he is. The main reason I called anyone out at all is that, while being reasonably handy, I don't play with gas and...

Halstead Ace High not modulating burner on DHW

Hi Tony. Yes, Corgi man is supposed to be fixing the boiler. He's had his multi meter out, tried swapping a sensor, and swapped the dhw hex. Both the sensor and the hex are from a scrap boiler he's keeping for spares. Neither of these has made any difference so he suggested flushing and is...

Halstead Ace High not modulating burner on DHW

Thanks for all the help everyone. The acids Chris mentions, am I likely to be able to get those at my local Plumb Centre? In terms of the sensor, Corgi man did check that, and swapped out just to be sure. Problem is that the 'replacement' is from a boiler he has taken out from elsewhere...
