Why are you giving away free trade knowledge

Well carry on then 5, but being in the public domain one answer will probably help a few thousand.

Why are you giving away free trade knowledge

No I have a problem with people posting answers on here to questions that we have worked hard for a long time to know the answers to.

When did I say I thought we were better, I know there are a lot of good engineers on here.

Why are you giving away free trade knowledge

I'm not getting into an argument over BG as I know many of you have a dislike for the company and engineers. I know I am a good engineer with a good breakdown knowledge, I just don't get why you like to broadcast this knowledge on here. Is it so people can think you are the man

Why are you giving away free trade knowledge

I have a private customer base as well. I am not worried about my earnings, as many of you know, if you are good at what you do it won't affect you, but I just think the breakdown side of the industry will suffer.

Why are you giving away free trade knowledge

I was just wondering why so many of you "tradesmen" are so eager to give away advice/tips/answers that have taken many of us a long time to learn only to post them here in the public domain. Now all a person has to do is type in there boiler and fault and the info is there. In the current...

Vaillant ecoTEC plus 618 R1 System Boiler

I appreciate a lot of my colleagues dont always get it right, but there are a majority of us that do. I have come across numerous Puma braided hose's becoming blocked and if I'm not able to clear it with a coathanger and there isn't clearance above, then boiler will come off the wall. What...

Vaillant ecoTEC plus 618 R1 System Boiler

After stumbling across this post, I wonder how much of the information is credible. I cant believe the expansion vessel was pumped to four times its charge pressure, for one I dont think the diaphragm could take this and I can't imagine any engineer doing this. You have also said the Vaillant...

Problem wth the good old Icos M3080 (not firing up)

Most definately, but would only fire up with the case off. The boiler wasn't left in operation and it was our own manager who spoted it and instigated the disciplinary, bit harsh as the guy asked him to come round for some tech advice, but thats BG for you.

Problem wth the good old Icos M3080 (not firing up)

Funny you should say that about the impulse tube shambolic, I went to one today, where a colleague of mine had changed the gas valve and put the tube on the threaded stud rather than the nipple. Numerous visits later due to intermittent LF the manufacturers were called in and even they missed...

Ideal Response 120 Combi Loud Rumbling

Its 7 years definately; http://www.britishgas.co.uk/products-and-services/maintenance-and-repair/terms-and-conditions.html Under the Response MIs, there is no mention of an inner flue seal as the mating edges slide over one another making the seal, anyhow its unlikely going to be that...

Ideal Response 120 Combi Loud Rumbling

Its actually if the boiler is under 7 years old we will replace, but this is very rare. I have only had to do it once for a Keston before where the heatexchanger needed replacing at a cost of £700. Although I strongly advise getting the boiler changed as they are a heap of c**p, I can pretty...

    New boiler: Viessmann?

Go for the Worcester, thats all I fit as you dont get any come back with them, they just dont go wrong. If you want control over your hot water go for the 25Si as the 24ijunior is factory set to 55oC Worcester customer support is excellent, but the guarantee is only 2 years, which I have...

Ideal Response 120 Combi Loud Rumbling

We retro fitted the flue thermostat on every Response we had under contract as well as doing a load for Ideals customers as well, so it is more than likely this has been fitted. It definately sounds like a supply problem, however I have only had it once where the meter regulator had had it...

    Leaky Worcester

You can never trust a ball-o-fix type valve on ch system pipes. When I work on a boiler I never touch them, I just drain till system self airlocks which is about the same time as if you shut them. On fresh water ie taps and mains they are fine to turn on and off. Muck in the CH system ruins...

potterton performa 24 room thermostat question

Have no experience with that prog/stat mate and haven't come across one yet, so couldn't really comment. Sunvic controls are usually pretty good though, and the one they are suggesting is very reasonably priced, half the price of the other brands for the same control. Good luck on the decision.

new boiler powered via plug in socket ok?

Its fine to have it as it is. Just make sure the plug has a 3A fuse in it not a 13A fuse. I have never heard of a reg saying it cant got in a socket with a switch in it.

potterton performa 24 room thermostat question

Yes this can be done no problem. If you take the PCB cover off you can disconnect the integral clock by taking ff the molex connector from the clock to the PCB. Then if you look to the bottom left hand side you will see a 5 module connector block going: Live (brown) Neutal (blue) Earth...

Baxi 105e new pcb after flue/fan fault but now rads not hot

Firstly make sure you have got the knob spindles in the correct orientation of the variable resistors. Take the pcb cover off and take the kobs out. Then from the cover side use the knob spindle and turn the two variable resistors as far clockwise as they will go, then go back round the front...
