    The picture was taken at a slight angle. The tin is not quite centre of the hole so i didn't spot it until it was too late. A regular hole saw was used.

    Theres defiantly no restrictions above and i have adequate clearance around the hole (apart from the bar). From all the poking around with extra long coat hangers (to route T&E) I'm sure the bars are mounted direct to the joists as the gap between the ceiling and joists is approx the same...

    Yes it drops down to the plasterboard and i think its all one piece formed by bent tin.

    Sorry for the terrible description - yes I think I mean suspension system. Basically rather than fixing direct to the joists, they have used these thin aluminium beams to help with acoustics. That's my understanding anyway.

    These downlights are Acoustic rated and in complienc with part E. They are fire rated to 90 minutes and in complience with part B. They have silicon gaskets to assist with part C & L. Why cant i use them?
