Socket outlet connected to 2 circuits

Rectified this problem today. The return phase of the ring was terminated in a 16a MCB which was supposed to be for the combi boiler circuit and the combi boiler phase was terminated in the 32a MCB protecting the ring.

    Testers on ebay..

Picked up tester today, i went for the Megger 1552. Had a little dabble tonight and i'm convinced i've made the right choice. Done a sequence of tests at home today and very happy with the ease of functionality.

    Testers on ebay..

I believe the 1651 doesn't have the Auto RCD Test. I havn't made up my mind which one to get yet. I've sampled both of them but not enough to help me make a decision. I think it'll be by the toss of a coin. :)

    Testers on ebay..

I've had some quotes for Fluke and Megger MFTs. I'm looking at either the Fluke 1652 or the Megger 1552. I'm geting quoted £549 + VAT for the Fluke and £495 + VAT for the Megger. However, they are also on ebay (as new and calibrated) for quite a lot less. My question is - would you trust...

Socket outlet connected to 2 circuits

It's my Nans house and I know for sure that apart from a chairlift and shower being installed there have been no other alterations, especially to the ring circuits. Both the chairlift and shower are on there own circuits. I'm just wondering - is it possbile that the 32a mcb should be...

Socket outlet connected to 2 circuits

I was spuring off a downstairs socket outlet to supply an outdoor socket outlet. I didn't want to isolate the whole house so i decided to remove the mcb that was protecting that circuit, 32a. Once i removed the mcb I tested the outlet and i was still getting 230v. I thought i'd removed the...

Socket outlet connected to 2 circuits

Why would a socket outlet be connected to 2 different circuits? I came across this today and can only assume that 2 circuits are interconnected. Any ideas?

    Another supplementary bonding question...

JohnD, it's a TN-S system. By the way there is no main equipotential bonding in the house. It's a job i plan to do very soon. The guy who lived here previously is the owner of a very big building contracting company. You would think that he would have his house in tip top shape.
