What junction box to use with armoured cable?

^ I don't know any of that....... all I'm gonna do is run the wires under the floorboards (because we're about to lay carpet soon and I don't wanna cause a mess later). I'm actually gonna get an electrician to connect it at the consumer unit and in the shed (where I want the power). I'm...

First things first......... what does SWA stand for? £5 isn't a lot for me....... its just that I've got a normal 30amp junction at home and I'm wondering if theres any point in buying another one. I'm gonna run a 2.5 T&E from the consumer unit....... under the floorboards and...

What junction box to use with armoured cable?

This is where the armoured cable terminated, and then goes into normal 2.5mm T&E cable. The actual juntion will be indoors, do can I use a normal 30amp junction box or does it have to be one or those big expensive weatherproof junction boxes (that cost at least £5)?

    Door keeps closing

I've fitted several (internal) doors and when you open the door half way some of them stay put......... but others keep closing. How do I stop that? Its obviously something to do with the way you adjust the hinges........ but how do I adjust them? How should they be?

    Noisy extension

We just had a two storey extention built on the side of our house consisting of a lounge downstairs and a bedroom upstairs. When you walk or even talk in the bedroom upstairs then you can hear everything in the lounge downstairs, and vice versa. I don't understand. We don't have this...

    Alternative to cable clips...

I think trunking is the answer. I'll just buy one piece of trunking and cut it up into a dozen pieces, and attach them every 2 feet or so and then feed the cable through them. Its not like you're gonna see them cuz they'll be hidden underneath the stop bead. Thanks breezer, good thinking.

    Alternative to cable clips...

Wow thanks for the quick replys. I'm actually trying to nail them in along the bottom of the house, just underneath the rendering angle stop bead. You know what I mean? That way you wouldn't be able to see it. I tried to nail in the bricks but that didn't work, then I tried to nail upwards...

    Alternative to cable clips...

I'm trying to run my coaxial cables along the side of my house, and I'm using cable clips (like the ones shown in pic) but they're doing my head in! They won't nail into the wall. The nail keeps bending and they're just too fidgity. Is there anything else I can use?

    Mixing cement and ratio's

My builder uses 1 part cement with 4 part sand (for building a concrete block wall) and he adds some waterproofer to that. He also used two different types of sand........ normal building sand and red sand. So he has a 1:1:3 ratio of cement:red sand:building sand. With rendering you can use...

    Substitute for Louvre doors

I can't find any louvre doors in the specific size that I want so I decided to make my own doors. I'm gonna make a frame, and then use cladding to get the louvre effect. But the doors are gonna look a bit bland without a panel in the middle, and I'm not sure how to make that. Has anyone...
