joining 2 lengths of led christmas lights together

The short answer is no. The longer answer is no because:- 1. You would be putting a much higher load on the transformer than it was designed for, so chances are it would fail rather quickly. 2. If you determined that the transformer was capable of running the extra load, then you need to...

    Cold radiators

If the two cold radiators have TRV's, the pins maybe stuck. Unscrew the head (Large knurled nut) and check the pin underneath.

    Baxi 105e diverter valve

Well tried it 1st thing this morning, and the boiler is now working again :) Including the overhauled diverter valve so im happy. One final question for anyone with experience of this boiler. I didnt strip down the hot water differential valve as the kit didnt contain spares for this. Ive...

    Baxi 105e diverter valve

Well i had the valve out today. Overhauled it using the suggested kit, reassembled everything and... The boiler now has a flame fault and wont do anything :( Too tired to think about it now, unfortunately i did get a bit of water on the pcb, but im fairly certain it was dry before powering...

    Baxi 105e diverter valve

Baxi 105e, usual problem, central heating getting hot when hot tap is on. CH did have some crud in it, this has now been flushed. Still need to fix the diverter valve. Can these be stripped down and cleaned? If so, do i need some new seals on reassembly? Or is it just not worth it and I...

Leave CH on all the time or just twice a day?

Depends on what you want. If you want your house warm at all times, then yes leave it on... OR if you are asking "Is it cheaper to just have it on when needed and switch it off when out/overnight" then the answer is yes it is definately cheaper to just use it when needed. If anyone tells...

Fluorescent tubes use more power than they should.

Yes, I assume your 'Meter' is a clamp around the one of your meter tails. And therefore it is only accurate if it is measuring resistive loads.

    Central heating survey

Thanks guys. Toasty. Interesting idea with the pir sensors. imamartian. Dragons Den, yes thats always an option. Problem i find with that program is you usually need a finished product, so thats at least £10k before you start. But you never know! Micky. Fair point, you dont know me. Trust...

    Central heating survey

Good afternoon guys and gals. I have been developing an idea over the last couple of years and now need to either invest heavily in progressing it :D or stick with the day job :( So a bit of market research in the form of a survey. Its really short, only a handful of questions (honest)...

Hot water problem, combi boiler at fault?

Its a Baxi combi boiler. Not sure of model, will have to ask them. If the diverter valve isnt working, surely the only way the rads would be getting hot is with the CH pump running? Is it normal for this to run in a combi when the CH is off and hot water is being drawn?

Hot water problem, combi boiler at fault?

Right, back to the original topic. The problem is still tepid hot water out of the combi. Placing hands on pipes coming out of the boiler, then turning on a hot tap, and the central heating pipe is definately getting hot as well as the hot water pipe. They have had a gas engineer round...

Hot water problem, combi boiler at fault?

Think I paid £130 for the heater. I did work out all the costs before buying it cant remember exactly what it worked out at, but for me it was certainly worth doing. its 10kW and i think it gives about 8 litres per min. Yes its fed from the cold water supply. With a dishwasher, its mainly...

Hot water problem, combi boiler at fault?

OK thanks, I'll get them to have the diverter valve checked. Now seeing as my thread has been hijacked... My opinion on combi's, as with most things there are advantages and disadvantages. I have a 28kW combi, and it gives loads of hot water. + Power shower without the pump +...

Hot water problem, combi boiler at fault?

Hi guys thanks for the replies. My folks havent had a combi before but ive had them for years. It is not simply warm up time. I left the tap running for 5 minutes. I also tried the tap half on, and it didnt seem to make any difference. (but maybe i didnt leave it long enough at 1/2 flow)...

Hot water problem, combi boiler at fault?

Hello all, after a bit of advice. My parents have just moved into a bungalow and there is something not right with the hot water. I didnt really have time to try and diagnose exactly what was going on but the basics are:- Appear to get hot water from the kitchen tap (Close to combi boiler)...

Replacing ceiling rose with spotlight bar

Er no not really. The terminal strips are about 10p and you can get them from any diy shed / surplus store. From what you have described, your neutral and switched live are correct. You need to take the 3 red wires out of the light fitting and connect them in a terminal block on their own...
