    Building a shed

Hi guys. Right im getting an idea as to how this is going to go. Just need opinions on the side that is going to go against the fence. Due to the proximity to the fence (inches) It wont be maintainable from the outside, so options i have come up with are. 1. Pressure treated shiplap...

    Building a shed

Hi guys, thanks for your advice. Ladylola, those tripled walled sheets look ideal. And looking into it, I dont think they will be any more than 18mm ply + felt, so will probably go with them.

    Building a shed

Wonder if these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/16-Double-glazed-glass-units-/150556711725?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item230de11b2d would be any good for skylights?

    Building a shed

Hmm ok I'll rethink my roof then. Wondering if maybe i could get hold of some old double glazing units and make some skylights? Otherwise electrics become more of a priority to get some light in there. I intend to go as close to the fence as i can, probably just enough space to install...

    Building a shed

Hi Big-all The wall to fence span is 2.5metres. For rain water, I was going to put in a guttering and downpipe. As for the roof, I really think it will be too dark without a transparent roof. Do you have any ideas for an alternative roof material?

    Building a shed

Hello all I am currently planning my lean-to shed in the driveway space between the house and the boundary fence. It will measure about 14sq metres and will be used for storage and as a workshop. I was going to use 2x4s for the main frame and use metpost bolt downs to secure the structure to...

Planning / building regs for sheds?

OK well just spoken to my local building control officer, and as far as he is concerned, its just a shed, even if it is attached to the house. So lean to it is! That at least means i still have access to the house wall for maintenance etc.

    Building a shed

Hi. I agree, I think a lean to would be easier and would solve a few problems. Planning isnt a problem, both a lean to, or an outbuilding is classed as permitted development (within reason) The issue is building regs. A lean to is classed as an extension and has to comply with the regs, an...

Planning / building regs for sheds?

Thanks Freddy. Good advice about the dpc. As well as the house wall being inacessible for maintenance, I need to consider the shed side which will be inaccessible as well. That is why my 1st idea was a lean to structure, which would keep the wall accesible. Looks like I might have to work...

Moving a flue from a combi boiler

Damn. Thanks for the info Agile Not sure if theres enough room internally due to a window being in the way. Might get someone out to take a look. Or the shed might have to be smaller :(

Moving a flue from a combi boiler

Hello Stev Thanks for the info. Sorry I probably didnt make it clear in my post, I have no intention of touching this myself. Just want to check what's possible and a ball-park figure of costs.

Planning / building regs for sheds?

Morning all I intend to build a large shed/workshop in my driveway, and just want to confirm about planning permission/building regs. The floor area will be 14.5m, so I believe it falls under permitted development. It will be against the boundary. My 1st thought was a lean-to build, using...

Moving a flue from a combi boiler

Hello all I am about to build a shed alongside the house and the 1st obstacle is the combi boiler flue, and just wondering what is involved in moving it. The boiler is a worcester 28CDi combi and at present, the flue comes out the top of the boiler and goes straight through the outside wall...

    Building a shed

Hello all, well this is my 1st major construction project outside, so will probably need all the help i can get. Basically i have a driveway that runs alongside my house, which is too narrow to park a car in it and easily get in/out, so at the moment, it is affectively wasted space. I dont...

    Guess the kitchen!

Hi everyone. Not sure which forum this belongs to, so apologies if its in the wrong place. The current fitted kitchen was present when i moved in and now i need to do a few repairs to it, but cannot find the kitchen style anywhere. I have checked the obvious places, b&q, homebase, wickes...
