Outdoor Garden Patio Sun Shade Sail Canopy Poles?

We need poles approximately 18 foot long for a sun shade and a lot of the options available look very flimsy and expensive. What have people found best for the task? I'm thinking scaffold poles but not sure on dimensions required or is there is another option available.

Installing swing set, want to protect the wooden posts

Hey everyone. I am waiting for a swing set to arrive. When it does, I want to treat the bottom of the wooden posts that will be partially buried to protect them. I've heard a lot of people use Black Jack Bitumen paint. Is it necessary to use the Black Jack Bitumen Primer first?

    Expanding Foam Gun Part Replacement

I think that's the same bit, it's not shown for very long. It shouldn't be too difficult to source I would have thought, surely it's a standard size/shape/material with a hole in it?

    Expanding Foam Gun Part Replacement

Yeah, been there and done that! That's why I took it apart. Problem is, the o ring (presumably the bit that makes contact with the can once screwed into the basket) was damaged when I tried to unblock it, I tried to free it up with something long and sharp. If you unscrew the basket from the...

    Expanding Foam Gun Part Replacement

I've already disassembled the gun, it was easy. The plastic bead type bit that I am referring to was so broken that it wouldn't have have shown as anything useful in a picture. It was a white piece of plastic with a hole through it, a bit like a bead but a softer material. I think I bought it...

    Expanding Foam Gun Part Replacement

Within the threaded basket, there is a piece of plastic with a hole in the middle. Is that known as the inlet valve? I have disassembled my gun as it wasn't working and can see at some point I stuck something into the piece of plastic after not taking proper care of it after use. I need to know...

Rothenberger Super-Fire 2 Soldering & Brazing Torch with Map-X: Why is it a flamethrower?

I've got the swirl tip installed and the flame is very fine, it's blue and in sunlight can hardly be seen. I think if anyone else is struggling, this is the way to sort it out.

Rothenberger Super-Fire 2 Soldering & Brazing Torch with Map-X: Why is it a flamethrower?

Thanks for your replies. I came across this review of the Super-Fire 2 and thought it sounded familiar. It's weird that you aren't all experiencing this without the swirl tip. I already had the swirl tip in my toolbox (sealed in packaging), so I'll try that when I get a chance. How open is...

Rothenberger Super-Fire 2 Soldering & Brazing Torch with Map-X: Why is it a flamethrower?

Yes, I bought it new and it's been in my waterproof toolbox since. Thinking back to when you got it, exactly what steps did you take to get the optimum flame?

Rothenberger Super-Fire 2 Soldering & Brazing Torch with Map-X: Why is it a flamethrower?

Hey everyone. I'm using a Rothenberger Super-Fire 2 Soldering & Brazing Torch with Map-X and no matter what I do, I end up with a flamethrower rather than a very fine blue tipped flame. It's really frustrating. Has anyone else had this problem and been able to sort it out? Currently what...

    Sourcing Appropriate Fencing Nails

Thanks for all your replies. We don't have an iron monger around here, I did check. Fortunately, my neighbour returned from his holiday and he makes a living from putting up fencing. He gave me a 1kg bag of 40mm galvanised round wire nails from a company called Border Fencing in Bromsgrove.

    Sourcing Appropriate Fencing Nails

Hello there, I have bought some feather edge fence panels and need to make them smaller. The nails used are round heads 38mm x 2.1 galvanised. Looking online, those are used in a nail gun and I don't have one. Can someone please tell me the closest match I can get to this? I only need about...

    Pipes in the ground

I've been scratching my head about where the electricity supply goes into the garage. The supply in the garage is old, I asked for an extra socket and the electricians said they wouldn't touch it until a new cable was fitted from the house to the garage. There is an old fuse board that uses...

    Pipes in the ground

Thanks for your replies. I am fairly certain it's not the water main, because the tap to turn the water supply off comes from the front of the house to the kitchen, not from the back of the house to the kitchen, so that makes me wonder what it is. I have looked at plans and the gas main also...

    Pipes in the ground

After more investigating, the clay pipe connects the gutter. It's strange because it takes a bend under the garage before bending back out away from the garage to the gutter drain pipe. I really need to know what the copper pipe is for, any ideas?

    Pipes in the ground

Yes, the clay drain is damaged. The small pipe is likely copper covered in a protective layer, something like petro tape, the same as the other two pipes I decommissioned. The gas meter is in our house.

    Pipes in the ground

I was tilling the soil to get it ready to lay slabs when bits of clay pipe started to appear. I was concerned about what it was for so I started putting water down different drains. Based on testing, it appears to be the pipe that takes the rainwater from the gutter of our garage. Why does it...

Automated sprinkler system for new turf

Hello there, we are getting our garden ready for turf and being realistic, we aren't going to get a chance to water the lawn twice a day to keep the new turf healthy. Has anyone had any luck with any sprinkler systems, is there one that you can recommend? We want something that can work...
