    Vaillant combi without HW

Thanks to those who replied Blocked impeller was the correct answer :)

    Vaillant combi without HW

Any way I can confirm/fix this myself? Would flushing clean water back through the boiler be likely to help?

    Vaillant combi without HW

Hi, I have a Vaillant 831 combi. Earlier today I installed some new taps in the downstairs loo, there were no isolating values so I had turn off the stopcock and drain both hot and cold feeds down. Taps fitted and everything's good. However, we now have no hot water. The Vaillant is running...

Where to run waste in this pic?

Actually I was going to cross it above ground (with the stub directly on top of where pipe 1 currently ends). But I could now in theory remove pipe 2 if I needed to - it's been blocked & covered in paving for over 30 years

Where to run waste in this pic?

Thanks Hugh, yes it includes a WC. Having re-read everything I'm going to route everything into pipe 1. WC and sinks into a stub stack and the rainwater and garden tap will discharge into a trapped gully alongside.

Where to run waste in this pic?

I'm thinking that the safest solution is going to be to run everything (soil and rain water) into pipe 1 as Hugh suggested. In my head, having a stub stack with the rainwater downpipe going into it just looks wrong though. Wouldn't all the smells come out the top of the downpipe? (that'll be...

Where to run waste in this pic?

I think we were both typing at the same time Space Cat. Yes the chamber is dry apart from the water level inside the lower pipe so all seems well. Could pipe 2 lead to a rainwater sewer instead? I'm not sure why else I'd have this configuration. It is a lot higher than the main drain, so...

Where to run waste in this pic?

[/url] Thanks Hugh that diagram is exactly what mine looks like, with the stopper missing. Now I'm at a loss as to why pipe 2 would connect to this drain below the interceptor. Is it possible that pipe 2 connects to a rainwater drain and not to the main sewer line at all? I'm wondering...

Where to run waste in this pic?

Thanks chaps for the advice. There is one further thing I've discovered: Within the inspection chamber, there are two pipes which seem to act as exit points. The first is about a foot lower, and obviously all of the waste flows into it. It is permanently flooded, eg the water line is visible...

Where to run waste in this pic?

Yes all toilets and sinks flow through this. I also poured water into the rain gutters and it came through here, so it's handling everything. No there's no other inspection covers, even out on the road. This is why I'm a bit suspicious of that pipe 2. The angle it shoots off at certainly...

Where to run waste in this pic?

I'm planning how to add a new stub stack waste for a utility room. I've got a few options to connect it to the existing waste. They are described below and in the photo, which one would be best? 1) Clay pipe 1 in the photo is currently just taking rainwater. I could change this to a stub...

Waste pipes for single storey building

I think I would add one, there's a nice diagram which seems to exactly match my situation right at the bottom of this doc: http://www.floplast.co.uk/uploads/Air%20Admittance%20Valves.pdf

Yes old toilet is still there. Not sure if the flush pipe is lead, will have a look next time I'm out there

Waste pipes for single storey building

Having re-read the regs I think a stub stack would be ok (the drain is vented further up as it connects to the main 2 storey open soil stack). Would I need an air admittance value inside the single storey building, just above the sink as this part of the drain has no ventilation? It's going...

Waste pipes for single storey building

I've got an old outside loo. The waste currently goes directly down through the concrete floor, and then runs outside a couple of meters to join the main waste. There is no sink or other waste pipe in the room. For various reasons I need to move the toilet within this building, and fit a sink...
