What about products like this Foil insulation roll http://www.wickes.co.uk/FOIL-INSULATION/Thermal-Insulation-Foil-Roll/invt/210022 These are thin and would fit into the space a lot easier. But are they effective?

Polystyrene beads, is that insulation? Would that actually help at all?

It sounds a nightmare. However while I cannot afford it yet the roof needs replacing. It's the original slate tiles and beams from the 20's and they're in their last years now. I might be able to get the roofing fitters to sort the insulation at the same time.

No other options? Perhaps it will have to wait until the day I get the roof redone. It would be very easy with no roof tiles in the way...

Ah I see, should I just leave it alone then and not replace it? With that being the case is there anything I should be doing with my combi boiler to descale it or is it best to leave these things well alone? :)

My combi boiler appears to have a 'Scalemaster' unit on the cold water pipe that supplys water into the combi before it's comes out as hot water. The boiler itself is a Worcester 28i RSF Boiler and the flow rate of the hot tap has always been quite slow compared to the cold which blasts out...
