plasterd finish will be more hardwearing than just board, if you chip plaster its just an easy filler job but if you chip board your down to the gypsum and in my experience filling it will crack round the edges (just what i have seen on sites)
plus why do you think brittish plasters are regared...
thats what i was thinking rich mabey the render was not fully cured before the fire was lit thus drying it (rather than cureing) and ruining the bond of the render.
see rich you cnt leave i listen to ya, proberly would have a few fire places to re-do by now if i haddent.
is there no local diy shops around they always have the little palm sized ones in, thier the ones i use.
sorry i should have posted a link showing ya what i ment my bad
you shouldnt leave rich itll be a great shame which is what i have said to you from day one DONT LEAVE there are many people who need the knowledge you have and as i have said before, although i have been doin this game for 9 almost 10 years i still learn alot from your posts which have helpd me...
haha ive got the dunces hat warmed up and ready to go mate.
my spelling will be bad at the moment anyway ive just realised my s key does not work properly anymore and just realised i have to punch it down quite hard to get it working properly
why do we have to pick on people who cannot spell properly im just the same i struggle with grammer and spelling, i dnt understand why that means we should get a barrage of abuse trying to belittle u because we cant do everything a well a everyone else.
different people have different qualitys...
thats wat i do mate just mark it on the back of the board cut it finely with the stanly the use the trusy surform to counter sink the hanger into the baord.
pain in the backside though time consumeing
i have to say although i was plastering for some time before i joined this forum i never knew about all these regulations aswell (like rich) i have learnt ALOT from rich mic and roughcaster and definatly value everything they have taught people and pecially me mabey not in person but i have...
just witnessed the lancaster, hurricane, and spitfire fly right over my house, what can i say you cnt appretciate the sheer power and majesty of these aircraft untill they fly soo close to you that you feel you can reach them.
amazeing. :D
same here ive seen it done loadsa times just been told you shouldnt do it by a plasterer round my way a plasterer i respect greatly.
how ever as i said i thought an acrylic primer would allow him to tile onto the bonding no problems, but then again im not a tiler, so i guess final say is up to...
so with tiles that big he will have to use cement based addy so if hes tileing onto gypsum he will need an acrylic primer.
definatlywould have been better with sand and cement, i dnt understand why plasterers dnt warn people bout these things they just get thier money and run
this could get very confuseing then at some point when someone uses the word dwang and i havent got a clue wat it is, ill have to send you a pm alastar to translate any messages i dnt know haha
you can put beads down the back to allow for movement that will proberly work to your advantage, i dnt think its something your builder would have thought of as its not common practice so he cnt really be blamed for that in my book (but thats just me) pva should not be used outside as its...
