What to use for garden wall repair?

I have a low garden wall that has lost a few bricks because the mortar has failed. It's not a particularly high quality wall and I am considering revamping the garden in a few years so a solution that lasts a few years (rather than decades) will be OK. Being an idiot DIY'er I don't know what...

Filler for small gaps in outdoor wood furniture

I have a couple of cheap wooden outdoor chairs that I'm going to repaint with outdoor paint in the hopes of making them last a bit longer. One chair has a bit of a gap where the wood is split slightly (looks like some bark was left on the original timber) but it's not to the stage of coming...

can't get a wall anchor to stay in

Well I went out of town for work and then holiday, so I was busy and miles away from the wall in question.

can't get a wall anchor to stay in

I promptly went out of town after my initial post so apologies for not following up earlier. The metal aspect confuses me. Why is there metal only on one side of one window? I'm drilling about 6 inches away from the window opening itself. Is it a bad idea to drill into the metal if it is...

can't get a wall anchor to stay in

I am trying to put up some new curtain rails. I have successfully managed to drill holes and put in the usual plastic wall anchors everywhere except one side of one window. The walls are plaster on brick (house is a 1950s brick semi-detached). I thought it was my anaemic cordless drill...

Boiler loses pressure after heat comes on

You were right, that's exactly what the repair guy ended up doing (recharged the expansion vessel). He only actually had to clean some gunk out of it and possibly the PRV, which is what I think I've had to have done in the past. He also said the whole system needs to be flushed. Somehow I have...

Boiler loses pressure after heat comes on

On further observation it would appear that the pressure goes up when the heat is on, as the boiler will run until the appropriate temperature is reached and then it will keep working for hot water etc. until the next time the heat tries to kick in, at which point it loses pressure and goes off...

Boiler loses pressure after heat comes on

Hmm, it's stupid but I don't know how to tell, as the digital display changes to show the water temperatue. I will have to figure out how to check that.

Boiler loses pressure after heat comes on

I have a pretty old combi boiler (glow-worm 24ci), it's at least as old as 2007 when I bought my house. I've had to have a repair done about every two years or so as it will lose pressure repeatedly. This usually happens after I've turned the thermostat down while I'm on holiday. In the past I...
