I have a low garden wall that has lost a few bricks because the mortar has failed. It's not a particularly high quality wall and I am considering revamping the garden in a few years so a solution that lasts a few years (rather than decades) will be OK.

Being an idiot DIY'er I don't know what products I need to buy. Is a sack of, say, blue circle mortar mix from wickes sufficient or do I need to buy extra stuff to mix into it?

Mortar mix will work but I’d buy separate (building) sand and cement. Squeeze of plasticiser (or fairy liquid if you’re tight) into it and slowly add water till it’s lovely and workable.
