Does this switch have a fuse? (part 2)

I have had two quotes, one silly the other ridiculous so I want to consider possible options of grunt labour saving to put to the winning bidder so that he only needs to wire & test. It would be useful to get suggestions in advance that a reasonable electrician would accept. (And I am far better...

Does this switch have a fuse?

The original installation had four sheathed cables coming out of the black box. Two have been cut back, only one is now active. Each light had a push button delay switch. At some point the supply cables rising out of the floor were replaced by those coming out of the trunking. So the object...

Does this switch have a fuse?

Very well, one person has answered the question in the title. I have described a system I have to assume was installed by someone trading as a professional electrician. Someone, let's remind you that failed to connect earths properly, if at all. So, how do you think it affects my opinion of...

I know. Deviating is why it is noteworthy.

Does this switch have a fuse?

You see, you are stuck with the idea that it is merely about experiment. Sigh. The bonding wire goes inside the box but does not connect to the box. (Those are redundant supply cables.) Mk 1 eyeball and a multimeter. The wire you can see looping out of the bottom merely comes out of the...

Does this switch have a fuse?

Thanks. So not as bad as it might appear. Do you have a picture showing what it looks like inside? It's OK, I know exactly what's inside the black box. I have given a summary.

Err, unearthed metal parts What has that got to do with you? Stop posturing. No I am trying to decode a terrible signal to noise ratio in this forum to gain some understanding. Either you are trying to be over protective of your skills or you haven't been exposed to a scientific...

This link shows the distribution for outdoor and hallway lights (through the timer) and TV amplifier in a block of flats. http://tinyurl.com/7pryqdp As in thread title, does the arrowed switch box have a fuse in it? Further comments: ~ The fuse before the meter is 100A ~ The tails from...

Consumer units, 17th ed & RCDs

I realise that the regs changed. But that's rather beside the point (of having separate RCBO circuits) when thousands of older systems continue to work perfectly well.

Consumer units, 17th ed & RCDs

Lots of houses have systems installed 20, 30, 40, 50 years ago which still work perfectly. It would suggest that, rather than giving protection against creeping faults, someone hammering a nail through a cable is the most likely problem. Why would it matter if all circuits went down?

That is how I thought it was commonly done. Looking at the article, I assume TN-S is actually the preferred configuration?

Is moving a light switch in the kitchen allowed/notifiable?

I'm the OP. No there isn't 3m clearance. But I still at loss to understand the busybodys' reasons for making kitchen & bathroom "special". Putting a light or socket in a particular position is either dangerous or it isn't. If the former it shouldn't be done. Telling a busybody about it doesn't...

There is a massive price difference between say, 1 RCD plus 5 MCBs compared to 5 RCBOs.

No. That's why I'm asking. Yes. But what is the point if an RCD is fitted?

Consumer units, 17th ed & RCDs

Ok, an RCD takes 2 slots. So that leaves just 3 available outputs. So do I understand that something like this http://www.screwfix.com/p/wylex-8-way-fully-insulated-rcd-board-consumer-unit/99580 which says it comes with an RCD, means the RCD is loose in the kit (so the switch shown in the...
