Advice on fitting kitchen tap needed.

Thanks. The tap is this one, Caple Ridley Copper The sink was fitted first as it needed to be secured for the quartz worktop to templated/fitted. There is a hole cut out on the shelf the sink sits on for access to the tap area. Here are some pics to get a better idea How the shank connects...

Advice on fitting kitchen tap needed.

Hello all. I'm currently trying to fit a new kitchen tap. I've never done this before. There is very little room to grip the back nut and get enough purchase to nip it up tight enough to make sure the tap doesn't swivel or move on the surface. I can't find a basin wrench or box spanner that...

A question about boiler service charges.

A question about boiler service charges.

Hi all. I recently had my boiler serviced, and was charged for the hours labour and a couple of parts. The boiler pressure was constantly increasing. The filling loop was said to be letting by so this was disconnected and capped. The boiler is now said to be fixed. However, new parts are...

Probably daft question about loft insulation.

Yeah I will leave a gap, I'm not insulating above 100mm anyway so it won't block. I just want to cover some edges that aren't insulated in the hope it will stop mould growing on the bedroom ceilings.

Probably daft question about loft insulation.

Right OK, thanks for the response. Hopefully it will fill out when unwrapped.

Probably daft question about loft insulation.

Hello all. I am planning on laying some loft insulation soon. I have bought 100mm base layer, but when it's rolled up it doesn't look 100mm to me, much thinner. I don't think it expands as you open it, so the question I have is the 100mm a guide as to what the insulation is rated at, or is...

Central heating pipes under concrete floor.

Thanks for the tips. It's just because of the oak flooring going on top, it says to put a DPM underneath.

Central heating pipes under concrete floor.

Thanks again. Do you reckon there would be any issues with putting a DPM under the pipes?

Central heating pipes under concrete floor.

Thanks for the advice. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can repair the screed? I'm guessing some sort of sand/cement mix, could someone advise on a specific product please? A bag of ready to mix or something. I've not done something like this before. I have to build up the edge so that...

Central heating pipes under concrete floor.

Hello all. I intend to lay some copper central heating pipes under my concrete floor. As the screed depth is quite shallow (around 40MM) I can't use ducts or make a plyboard tunnel as I intended Therefore I am thinking of just securing the pipes to the concrete slab below with pipe clips...

Threaded pipe and cap sticking out of kitchen floor, any ideas what it might be?

Hi all. I have had a central heating leak so I need to rejig the radiator layout. I will possibly need to dig up some concrete in the kitchen to lay new pipes. The bit I wanted to dig up I've spotted a nut sticking out of the floor. Obviously I don't want to get stuck in until I know what...

Fitting a double built under oven in to a single oven cabinet.

Thanks. Yeah it turned out fine, your first reply was spot on, I had to take out the bottom two shelves and put in metal supports on either side, wasn't too difficult. Thanks.

Fitting a double built under oven in to a single oven cabinet.

Thanks for the reply flameport. I have managed to find the internal dimensions of the oven I want, and having read up on it you're right, the double-unders are sat on brackets that are attached to the cabinets either side, but not to a specialised oven cabinet. So it looks like not just the...

Fitting a double built under oven in to a single oven cabinet.

Hello all. Had a bit of an issue with my current oven and it needs replacing. It's a single built in, housed in a standard 60cm cabinet from what I can tell. Is there any way to get a double built under in there? They measure about 70 cm high. It has a void underneath with a panel on top as...

    Chrome plated Yorkshire fittings.

Hi all. I have just discovered these and wanted people's opinions on them. I need to get some plumbing done later in the year, and I will need a fair few chrome compression joints as I will be using chrome pipe. I have seen these and thought they might be more reliable than having several...

Leak in central heating, how easy is it to drain system?

Thanks for the reply dilalio, that was a great help. I have got it sorted now, the radiators connected after the leak are all now isolated, I managed to get a plumber around this morning (I wasn't totally comfortable messing around with it myself) who has capped off the supply to them by...

Leak in central heating, how easy is it to drain system?

Could I not just bypass it and resite the rads? That was my intention. I am also getting an F22 error code, which I think is the boiler shutting down and not firing up. The hot water taps pump out cold water until I up the pressure again, and normal service is resumed. Is there any way to...
