Need to fit architrave on uneven door frames - what tool?

Does anyone know who I would contact if I wanted custom corner blocks made up? I went to a local DIY shop and they said they could machine some for me but I would have to wait a couple of weeks. Would it just be a timber merchants or someone else?

Need to fit architrave on uneven door frames - what tool?

A slightly bigger depth you mean? And it would look OK to cut on one side like I mentioned? Thanks for all the help BTW.

Need to fit architrave on uneven door frames - what tool?

I see, yeah it's just regular Ogee, off set by some parting bead because the plaster sits out a little from the door frame. I might have a look in to doing it this way then, as it could make it a lot easier. Would it matter if on one side the block was shortened? On two edges the architrave...

Do you mean Ogee and parting bead?

Need to fit architrave on uneven door frames - what tool?

Thanks gregers. Wrightwoodwork, I doubt I will need base blocks, the skirting and architrave match in terms of thickness so they should butt up nicely. I have to say a lot of your post kind of went over my head (just a humble DIY'er!) but you have given me an idea. You can get corner blocks...

Need to fit architrave on uneven door frames - what tool?

Yeah I'll be scribing the internal joins Burnerman, just the external ones I'm concerned about. That is a bit costly tbh Norcon, thanks for the suggestion though. Thanks for the help guys, hopefully it'll work out well.

Need to fit architrave on uneven door frames - what tool?

Thanks Norcon. Watched loads of videos like that but they're all aimed at perfect door linings. Foxhole, I tried one today, cut it at 45 and the top piece was well out. Seeing as I've got loads to do (as well as decorating) I just want to bite the bullet and get some decent tools. I know...

Need to fit architrave on uneven door frames - what tool?

Thanks for the reply Burnerman. That's a relief, I might give one of these a go then. So I guess what I would do is mark the margin around the door frame, let it intersect at the edge, and just line this tool up to the lines, calculate angle and half it? And for skirting just lay along...

Need to fit architrave on uneven door frames - what tool?

Hi all. I've been tasked with fitting skirting and architrave all around my sister's house. I am dreading it really as I've only managed 'OK' jobs in the past. Stressing me out just thinking about it. Started today and immediately I can see that the door frames are out of square. I...

Advice on light switch wires and terminal blocks...

Could you point out where anyone has said terminating and insulating the sockets is a bad idea and shouldn't be done?

Advice on light switch wires and terminal blocks...

OK. Well, in terms of the sockets, he will need power to mix the plaster etc. But I think if they have the blocks on with tape they will be adequately insulated and he can use an extension cable from another socket. I spoke to him today and it was his idea to have the connector blocks...

Advice on light switch wires and terminal blocks...

Thanks for the quick reply riveralt. Are you saying power needs to be off even if connector blocks are applied? Also, if I were to connect up the blocks, would it be as simple as putting each wire in to a separate terminal or would some have to be combined?

Advice on light switch wires and terminal blocks...

Hello all. I have a plasterer coming in tomorrow and want the skim to be done behind the sockets and switches for neatness. I am planning to remove the socket fronts and put the wires in a terminal block covered heavily in insulating tape to protect the screw heads (too late to get choc...

    Damaged cable.

Hello again. Right, here are some photos of the cable. Hope they are of some help. The first pic is of the overall damage. I cut off the outer sheath to be able to inspect it thoroughly. The black one at the back has a slight nick but not enough to expose the conductor in any way. The...
