    EWI trims - opinions wanted

Hi all, Once again I'm looking for some informed opinions from you knowledgable folks. I'm currently having EWI fitted and this is what's been done with the trims under the dry verges on the gable ends. I'm concerned but keep being given assurances that this is all totally acceptable -...

Quick question about Over Fascia Vents

Turns out my earlier comment of the fasica's being in good nick was premature - there was a lot of rotten wood in parts which had been hidden by the gutter line / the previous occupants layers of paint. Felt support trays were needed as the end of the felt was in a right old state too. Oh...

    Redundant soil and vent?

My house has two soil and vent pipes - the first is an internal one that exits through the roof space and has all the drainage connected to it. The other is a big huge cast iron thing, stuck on the side of the house. This one isn't connected to anything and I'm guessing because there's no...

Quick question about Over Fascia Vents

I did look at those Easyvent fittings for that - they seemed very expensive for what they are, so will certainly the wood wedges a try. I wasn't really sure if I needed to fit better ventilation overall though, as well as opening up the felt overlaps (there's no soffit venting at all at the...

Quick question about Over Fascia Vents

Thanks - it is a detached so should be doable. :D

Quick question about Over Fascia Vents

This is going to be a really easy question for those in the know, but I couldn't find the answer anywhere so here goes... Short version; is it possible to fit over fascia vents if you're overboarding existing wooden fascia's? Longer version; I'm looking at having my wooden fascias and...

Stopping noise travelling through cooker extractor

With that and the price of the foam it comes to just under £50 - seems worth a stab

Stopping noise travelling through cooker extractor

I've considered lining the inside of a part of the vent that's easy to disconnect and get at - there's a straight run of a meter which can just be uncoupled. The only issue is what might be best to line it with; something like a class O type fire retardant might do it? Then a bit of Googling...

Stopping noise travelling through cooker extractor

The filters are the metal grid types that say they don't require anything additional - don't know if the paper style filters would be thick enough to filter out noise.

Stopping noise travelling through cooker extractor

Hope this is in the right section - it didn't seem to fit anywhere else. Wondered if anyone had any thoughts or ideas on a (simple?) way of stopping noise being transferred through our cooker hood - for some reason from the outside you can hear conversations going on inside, and when you're...

Need opinions - is it possible vertical DPC has failed?

I'm back again and totally fed up / lost. :( The guy who claimed they could apparently fix this changed hid mind. He reckoned whoever fitted the windows couldn't have foamed them in properly and reassessed that the solution was to hack the internal plaster off (and the window render)...

Need opinions - is it possible vertical DPC has failed?

My long standing battles with renovating my property continue :( The house has cavity walls but somehow rain water is bridging it and causing major damp patches around the windows and doors. All the windows and doors were replaced last year but if the spurs the guy was wearing were any...

Cental heating nightmare - help me solve a 12 month problem!

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone for their input - will be getting on to someone this week and the information you've given will come in handy. :) It's interesting about boiler size and not running the CH and HW at the same time - when I bought the place they were on Economy 7, so...

Cental heating nightmare - help me solve a 12 month problem!

I'd have no problem in paying to change the pump to something more expensive as I need to get the issue sorted (and there's no way of fixing this really without spending more). However (and this is where it shows that I'm someone who doesn't really know much about heating systems) would...
