    BT Telephone Master Sockets

So in theory I should just be able to change it to a normal one with 3 terminals? I'm only saying 6 terminals because they're all wired up on this one at my grandparents house. They have two extensions running from the master socket but that shouldn't make any difference should it as it would...

    BT Telephone Master Sockets

Actually I've just looked at that properly and it's not the right one. It only has one set of 3 terminals in that one whereas the one they have has terminals 1 through to 6.

Maplin, of course! Always overlook the Geek store. You're a star, there's a Maplin just down the road from their house. Thank you!

    BT Telephone Master Sockets

Morning all, My aging grandfather suffered a bit of a fall last week and somehow managed to smash the shodily installed BT master off the wall at the bottom of the stairs so their landline stopped working. Fortunately my mother was due up there only half an hour later on so she called me...

Can anyone tell me what one of these is called?

I'm assuming you'd need the skills to work with metal to produce such a thing too?

Multiple chandeliers on one dimmer switch?

This is not a job I have any intention of tackling personally so no need to get up in arms about what I should or shouldn't be doing, but my boss has asked me to come up with a solution and I'm fed up with waiting for contractors to come out (not that I blame them, but my boss' slow paying of...

Can anyone tell me what one of these is called?

This is a better view of it. Brass plate is 3mm thick and measures 40mm in diamater. Threaded shaft is 25mm long and non-threaded shaft is 15mm long. I'm guessing it's M10 thread. Would prefer to find a direct replacement as there's already a large hole drilled out in the centre of the leg...

Can anyone tell me what one of these is called?

In all fairness this is the first time it's broken in three years. I suspect someone has been dragging the dresser around instead of lifting it and moving it so more likely to be abuse than wear and tear.

Can anyone tell me what one of these is called?

I have a dresser on which two of these have snapped causing the legs to break off. Can anyone tell me what they're called and suggest somewhere I can get replacements from? Ta!!

Building a heavy duty door screen from scratch

Hi all, I have a doorway measuring 1200x2300 for which I need to build a screen door. The door isn't used that much but when it is used is used for carrying heavy goods in and out so it needs to be sturdy enough that I can hook it back out of the way and it isn't going to fall to bits...

Finding metal studs in dry wall

Yes I have one of those detectors and you can never tell whether it's working or not. They seem to work and not work as they please.

Finding metal studs in dry wall

I'm trying to mount a microwave bracket onto a drywall in my new (just moved in last week but house is 8 years old) house and everywhere is bloody plasterboard. I know from taking a socket off the wall that the construction is some kind of metal framing behind the plasterboard and wondered if...

    Cooker hood bulbs

I just looked again (properly!) and found a UK phone number so I just called and spoke to their tech dept who told me it's definitely 40W per bulb max and that it's fine to use halogen or CFL whichever I prefer. Sorry guys, it's right at the top of the unit so I couldn't make it out before...

    Cooker hood bulbs

Hopefully a quick question for you guys. Moved into our new house last week and I'm slowly working my way around everything and I noticed when cooking the other night that the light from our cooker hood is rubbish and figured the lens covers must be greased up so I've removed them today to...
